Brielle sighs, patting her belly. “You got that right. That was the best steak and eggs I think I’ve ever had.”

Susanne’s smile brightens with affection. “Thanks, sweetie.”

“She’s not wrong. It’s the best food we’ve had so far. Uhm, so about Levi. Is he still around?”

Her smile falters. “I reckon you should go up to Asha Haven Ranch and talk to his son.”

His son. My heart skips. Do I have a brother?

“His ranch?” Brielle asks, filling the silence I’ve left while stuck in my thoughts.

“Just up the road. You can’t miss it or probably the parade of trucks about to roll out for the rodeo.”

CHAPTER 12

COLT

I tap the hood of the truck, glancing between Cooper and Duke.

“No fucking shenanigans.”

Duke scoffs. “Us? Shenanigans? Never.”

Narrowing my stare, Cooper swallows and nods. “We’ll be good. We just want the title and then to get back home.”

Duke groans. “It’s the fucking rodeo. If we can’t at least fuck one buck—ughfm.”

Cooper socks him hard enough in the stomach to cut him off before turning back to me. “We’ll be good.”

My eyes roam over Duke again, debating pleading with his twin to take his place. Duke sighs then rolls his eyes, leaning over Cooper to speak directly in my face.

“My brother is crazy about that omega. I promise I won’t do anything while y’all are pursuing her. I may be a selfish twat, but I love my brother.”

I suck my lip between my teeth, then nod. “Alright, make us proud.”

Cooper grins. “Don’t I always?”

I brush my knuckles against his jaw and roll my eyes as I step away. “Yeah, yeah, hotshot. Don’t get too cocky now.”

Maverick comes around and taps on the side of the door window. “Horses are loaded. Dallas got the haul stocked. Brooks said to keep an extra eye on Train’s front left. He cleaned up, but may need a change.”

Duke nods. “Got it. I’ll call him if I have any questions and have the doc on site check it if we’re concerned.”

Cooper salutes, flashing us another grin. “Time to bring it home again, boys.”

Maverick rolls his eyes. “As if you need a bigger ego.”

He steps back and we walk down the road a bit to watch them leave, and half the team with them. Maverick blows out a breath. “We’ll be lucky to get through rodeo season without someone getting knocked up.”

I snort. “They’re good men. They always come to take care of their own.”

Mav grunts. “Sure, until they got a few baby mommas and none of them know of the others.” He shakes his head. “I’d like one year without the drama.”

Patting his back, I laugh. “You forget drama is what keeps our town running.”

“Brackenridge, powered by whiskey and drama,” he says drily.

I grin wider. “And sometimes bourbon and mischief.”
