“What about Embrie?” Lacy looked over her shoulder. Embrie was laughing loudly as she chased after Sage.
“Gunner and Lily are going to take her back with them. He mentioned something about Lily planning to make edible play dough and then baking cookies with the girls in their apartment while we talked to the lawyers. I told him I thought that was a good idea, and Lily can always come get us if Brie has a hard time.”
“You’re right.” Lacy nodded. “Okay. Let me just give her a kiss. Embrie!”
“Mom! I’m going to play with Sage and Lily!”
“I heard. You make sure you listen to Lily, okay? And you can have her call me any time, if you need me.”
“I will, I promise. Have fun with Nash!”
If only it were that simple, kiddo.
Twenty-Two
While she would have loved to spend the day in her wedding dress, Nash insisted they had time to change into something more casual before meeting with the lawyers. So Lacy followed him up to the apartment, still reeling from the whiplash of emotions. Nash’s vows had been some of the most beautiful words ever spoken to her, filled with so much love and warmth. And she felt the truth of the vows he spoke over Embrie settle deep in her soul.
The days she spent in Silver Springs, thinking that nothing was going to work out for her, melted away into distant memories. The hurt, the anger, the fear she felt when thinking about what new problems each day would bring evaporated each time Nash’s fingers grazed the small of her back.
He was going to be a constant in her life now—Lacy knew that. She understood that she could count on him, could trust him to keep his word. To provide. To keep them safe. To love them.
She just hoped she’d always be enough for him. Because a man like Nash Caldwell—so good, and kind, and giving—deserved the best wife.
“You okay?” he asked, poking his head out of the closet.Oh, god.His whole chest was on display, each and every sinfully delicious tattoo calling to her. She was desperate to touch her husband. Something deep in her ached to have him close. “Lace?”
“Oh. Yeah?” She swallowed, heat crawling up her chest and neck.
He stalked over to her until she put her hands out to stop him. Her palms rested on his chest, and good lord, she was sure her legs were turning into gelatin.
"You’re wound awfully tight. Is there anything your husband can do to help you out?”
“Nash, we can’t. We don’t have time.”
“I’ll be quick.”
“Just what every woman wants to hear…” she teased.
“Just a little appetizer for what's to come tonight.” He chuckled. “I bet I can get you there in just a few minutes, wife. I won’t even use my hands. But only if I don’t have to bend you over my knee first.”
“Hm, I think I like the sound of that challenge. You’ll have to help me out of my dress first.” She wiggled her hips, reaching her arms behind her to try and capture the zipper.
“No.”
Her whole body went still. “No?”
“I want to watch you shatter on my tongue in your beautiful wedding dress. I want to look at it, hanging in our closet every day, and have it remind me of the sounds you made when you came apart for me for the first time as my wife.”
“Nash,” she panted as his fingers slipped under the silky fabric.
“Pesky pantyhose. Hot as fuck, Lacy. Truly. But they’ve served their purpose.”
His fingers ripped through the thin material, pulling so that the seam he created went from her toes all the way up tothe very top of her thigh. His hands pushed against her legs, tipping her back so she was sitting on the edge of the mattress.
“Mm, now, are you going to be a good wife and let me taste that perfect pussy of yours? I’m starving, and I don’t think I can wait another minute to have my meal.”
“Just a snack for my hungry boy.”
He smirked, his head finding its way between her legs. Nash kissed the entire length of her right leg, from ankle to hip bone. Lacy shuddered as his warm breath caressed her skin. In an instant, his hands were under her, lifting her hips, forcing her to drop her legs open. In the next heartbeat, Lacy felt Nash’s tongue on her slit, licking from her core straight to her clit.
