Ethan wraps an arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer. “It’s going to be alright, bunny. You’ll love it, I promise.”
“Thank you.” I peck his cheek, bewildered by how he can read me so easily. It’s like he has a camera inside my head, watching and listening to all the crazy stuff that goes on there. And if that’s the case, it’s a wonder he still loves me.
Chapter 40
Kayla
Ethan pulls himself intothe saddle with the grace of John Wayne. I get a stool to step on, and even with that, I barely manage to haul myself up, immediately listing to the other side before I find some semblance of balance.
Annalise helps me place my feet into the stirrups. My hiking boots are hardly the ideal footwear, but she said it’s fine for today. She told me to get proper riding boots if I want to visit more often, though. I said that I’ll absolutely be back, but now that I’m perched atop a living animal dangerously high above the ground, I’m not so certain about it.
It feels unnatural and scary, and the moment Bella takes the first step, all of Annalise’s instructions fly out of my head, and I grip the pommel with everything I have.
“Relax, Kayla,” Annalise says from far below, where she’s holding Bella’s reins. How did I not notice how damn tall the horse was? “Stop gripping Bella with your knees. Relax your legs and sway your hips with the motion.”
“Yeah, bunny,” Ethan grins, skillfully steering Spirit closer. “Pretend you’re riding something else.”
His lewd wink brings heat to my cheeks. I do relax, though, if only a little.
Annalise slowly walks Bella in circles, and I do my best to stay in the saddle. Riding a horse is definitely not as simple as I imagined it would be, and I know I can forget about galloping off with Ethan for a quickie in the woods.
My arousal is back in full force. My pussy is rubbing against the elevated part of the saddle in the best way possible. I don’t think I’d be able to actually come like this, but it’s certainly…stimulating. No wonder women like riding horses so much.
Ethan looks hot as hell riding Spirit. I’ve never had a cowboy fantasy, but damn! “You need a cowboy hat,” I say, deciding to order him one the second we get back home. “And a flannel shirt.”
“Mmm,” Annalise hums in agreement, her cheeks flaring red as she glances up at me. She’s doing her best not to stare at Ethan, but I can’t even be mad at her for looking. The man is literal eye candy.
Ethan rolls his eyes. “I’m not wearing a flannel shirt.”
“Just the hat, then. You can be shirtless,” I tease.
Annalise giggles. “Now that would be worth watching.”
“Exactly. And… Hey, Annalise, do you have any foals around? Or other baby animals? We definitely need to take a picture of a shirtless Ethan holding some cute animal.” I’d even let her watch, just so I could see her get green with envy because she can’t have Ethan for herself.
Laughing even harder, Annalise shakes her head. “No, no foals. We have some piglets, though.”
“Veeery funny,” Ethan snickers, nudging Spirit to trot to the other side of the yard. “Come on, Kayla. See if you can catch me.”
“Now who’s being funny,” I grumble, then realize the conversation distracted me enough to finally fully relax in Bella’s saddle. I’m still far from Ethan’s graceful hip swaying, but at least I don’t feel like I’m about to fall off anymore.
To my horror, Annalise lets go of the reins. “It’s okay, Kayla,” she soothes my panic. “I’m still here, not going anywhere. Bella is a great girl. She won’t let you fall. Relax your legs like before.”
“Uh-huh.”
“You’re doing great. Now, gently nudge her sides with your heels.”
I take in a deep breath and run my hand through Bella’s mane. “Don’t throw me off, okay?” I whisper to her. “I’ll give you more carrots later, I promise.” At the mention of carrots, Bella flicks her ears.
In the gentlest motion possible, I move my heels against Bella’s sides, then squeal when she actually starts moving. “I’m riding a horse!”
“You are!” Annalise sounds just as excited as I do, but I guess that for her, it’s a normal state. “You’re doing great. Don’t grip the reins so tightly. Only tug on them if you want Bella to turn.”
“The steering wheel, right,” I chuckle, remembering her “steering horses for dummies” lesson. Since Ethan is to my left, I gently pull on the left side of the reins, amazed when she promptly changes direction. “She turned! Did you see that?”
Ethan seems to have trouble not laughing out loud, but he nods at me. “I sure did,” he says in a tone a parent would use to praise their child for putting their shoes on right.
“Stop making fun of me, Ethan Bennet,” I mock scowl. “I’m a natural horse rider! Just watch.” I nudge Bella to go a little faster, immediately regretting it when my butt starts slapping against the saddle as I’m jostled up and down.
