She quickly tapped out a reply. “Thank God! How’d he react? I need more details!”

“Fine.”Another text came right after.“He already knew about us, actually.”

“WHAT?! How’d he know?!”

“He said we were too obvious.”

“Obvious how?”

“Way too many examples to put in a text, so I will have to tell you when we talk tonight. Basically, he was waiting for me to come clean.”

Her jaw fell. Yeah, people had their suspicions, but she really thought they’d managed to fly under the radar with their little weekend romance.

“Really??? Wow. And here I thought we were so smooth.”

“Me too. But we are not smooth as we think, apparently. He said everyone knew.”

“Everyone????” She fired off a reply. “Welp. I’ll still call Piper after market to tell her, but it sounds like she probably knows, too?”

“Yup,”he texted, adding a winky face.“Let me know what she says, okay?”

“Of course! I’ll call you later. xoxo.”

“Love you, my darling.”

She pocketed her phone with a smile. Every time he used those words, he filled her heart with fuzzy tingles. Was she crazy for letting herself fall in love so fast? Maybe, though she wasn’t sure she truly had any choice in the matter. If one of her friends had told her she’d fallen in love with a guy over the course of a single weekend, she was sure she’d think they were bat-shit crazy, too. But when you know, you know—and she had no doubt about her feelings for Sasha. He was the first thing she thought of when she woke, and the very last thing on her mind when she fell asleep.

Now it was time for everyone else to know it, too.

Time to face the music, she thought as she hopped into her truck.

She scrolled through her contacts, settled on her sister’s name. After a deep breath, she dialed a video call. Piper appeared on screen, sitting in an office chair in a room bathed in golden sunlight. “Hey, Paulie! How’s market?”

“Just packed it all up,” Paulina said, snagging her lip between her teeth.

“So that was your very last market?!”

Paulina nodded.

“Yay!” Piper said and clapped her hands. “Congrats! How’s it feel to be done slinging veggies?”

“Bittersweet.” Paulina let out an anxious wail. “I’m so excited to move but at the same time, I’m going to miss everybody here, too. Hell, I almost cried when I said bye toEugene.I feel so emotional lately. It’s the weirdest thing.”

Piper laughed. “Yeah, trust me, I know the feeling. I cried for sure at my last market. It feels that way every time you leave a job, too—even a job you hate.”

“So what are you up to right now?” Paulina asked.

“I’ll show ya.” Piper stood, pushing the wheeled chair behind her away. She turned her camera around to show Paulina the small office space she rented. She’d seen it before, but there was a new addition; a second work desk adjacent to Piper’s. “I’m making room for Soulmate’s newest hire, the Director of Customer Relations.”

“Oooh, is thatmyfancy title?”

“Yes, ma’am!”

“Sounds serious!” Paulina adopted an exaggerated Montana drawl. “Are you sure this farm gal is cut out for work like that? On one of them dang computers?”

“As long as you can reply to user emails without blowing a gasket, yup. Did I tell you that you’ll also have the privilege of terminating the accounts of users who misuse our service, too?”

“Ooh! Are you saying I get to ban the cheating shit-heads like Scott?”
