“Yo.” Jax waved his hand in front of Niko’s eyes. “Earth to Niko.”
Niko snapped out of his trance. “Sup?”
“You’re staring off into space there, bud. What’s on your mind?”
“Oh, I was just—” Niko cut himself off before he said anything more.Thinking about your soon to be sister-in-law?“Um, just thinking about things.”
“So,” Jax began in a knowing tone, “you met Paulina.”
Am I really that transparent?
Niko chuckled. “Ya.”
“And how’d you like her?”
He shrugged and played it cool. “She seems nice.”
“Looked like you enjoyed walking her down the aisle.” Jax nudged him with his elbow. “What was going on there, anyway?”
Niko played dumb. “What do you mean?”
“You were definitely sayingsomething to her.”
“I was?”
“Yeah, you were,” Jax insisted, and playfully slugged Niko on the shoulder. “And don’t even try to deny it. I have witnesses.”
“Witnesses!” Niko laughed. “Who?”
Jax’s eyes crinkled up in a smile. “Dane, Hath, Reavo, Vaughnsy, Beau Bradford—hell, whodidn’tsee you whispering something to Paulina? That’s a better question.”
“Ohhhh,okay.” Niko laughed innocently. “Now I know what you’re talking about. I was telling Paulina how weird it is that we have to walk down the aisle together, because everyone else is a couple. Everyone else is married but us.”
“Yeah?” Jax’s eyes darted between Niko and the road. “And that’sallyou were saying to her, I’m sure.”
“Exactly.” Niko flashed a sneaky smile, but Jax wasn’t buying it.
“Iknowshe’s your type, you know.”
Niko grinned—there was no use denying it. The blonde had a rockin’ bod, with great titties and a plump ass. Hell yeah, she was his type! “You’re right. She is. I think I love her.”
Jax laughed and gave him a small shove. “You don’t loveher, you ass! You just met her!”
“So what?” Niko shoved him back. “And how come you never told me Piper had a hot sister, anyway?”
Jax shrugged. “Because I don’t think of her as hot.”
“You don’t?” Niko huffed, almost offended. “What are you, blind? Hell, she even looks a little bit like Piper! How could you not think she’s hot?”
“Uh, yeah, and that’s exactly my point, genius. They’resisters.So no, I don’t look at Paulie and think, ‘damn, she’s hot!’ ”
Niko grinned. “Well, why not? She is, isn’t she?”
“Because it’d be weird, man.” Jax laughed and gave him another shot on the shoulder. “Do I really have to explain this? Are you really this hopeless?”
“Of course not. I’m just joking,” Niko said with a wave of his hand. “I know what you’re saying. You’re marrying into the family, and it would be a very bad thing to think of your wife’s sister like that.”
“Whew.” Jax let out a breath of relief. “Thank God. You had me worried for a second there.”
