More photos: Austen jumping into the pool.

Dane pursuing Austen in the water.

Austen leading him through the waterfall.

“Such a romantic scene.” Thayer said with a laugh. “But wait, it’s about to get a little R rated!”

Dane and Austen, arms around each other, kissing again in the “privacy” of his alcove.

Dane slipping out of the water, his underwear coming off. Austen gnashed her teeth at the sight of his tall, erect cock—the PI had gotteneverything.

Austen kneeling between his thighs, worshiping the hockey player’s dick and balls with her lips, her tongue, her mouth.

“Enough!” Austen shouted. The other diners were startled and quietly murmured.

“No need to make a scene,” Thayer said. “As I was saying. If you don’t want these spread allover social media, forever linked to your name and reputation, then you will not say a single word about DeHardt, Campbell, or Hathaway. If you cause a singlehiccupin the trade process, these will be unleashed.”

Austen was too stunned to argue. If he’d left it at that, she might have begrudgingly admitted defeat. She wouldn’t like it, but she’d see no other choice but to stay quiet and move on with life.

But hehadto keep needling her.

“You know what I found most funny about your little poolside blowjob? The fact that, when you interviewed him, hetoldyou that he always takes a girl swimming on the first date. To see her body and see her without her makeup. And you still fell for it! Ha ha! I have to give the jock credit, that’s a good move!”

It all began to pile on her like a mudslide: this meeting with Thayer, his ugly proposition, the fact that she was tracked by a PI who’d managed to get intimate photos that were being used to blackmail her.

But thinking that maybe Thayer was right—maybe Danehadtricked her—was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

A seething rage possessed her. She grabbed her ramen dish and slam-dunked the ceramic bowl over the top of Thayer’s head. He yelped in pain as hot curry broth rushed down his head and dribbled to the floor with a goopy patter. Vegetables clung to his face and noodles fell on his shoulders.

With Thayer stunned and wide-eyed, Austen reached across the table and snatched the folder that was filled with photos and bolted. “Bye, asshole.”

“There’s no point in taking those!” he called after her. “You’re not getting rid of any evidence! It’s all digital! I even have video!”

Chapter 31

Dane

By the time Dane made it back to his house, he found that the party had moved to the backyard. Matchbox, the team DJ, had music blasting over the speakers. A few of the boys stripped down to their boxers and jumped into the pool, trying to get others to join them. But almost everyone else talked and drank in groups.

Dane found an open lounge chair. He grabbed it and joined Reavo, Parisi, and a few other teammates around the warmth of the fire pit.

“There you are,” Reavo said. “We were looking all over for you. Where’d you go?”

“Neighbor had some car trouble. Had to give her a ride.”

“Oh. Must’ve been a long ride.”

“Yeah. Did I miss anything around here?”

“Nope. The married guys and taken girls all pretty much checked out after you left. The single guys are still chasing tail.” Reavo pointed at the pool, where the boys were busily trying to lure a group of girls away from their phones and into the heated water.

“It’s warm, I swear!”

“No! I don’t have a swimsuit!”

“So? Neither do I! Swim in your panties!”

“No way!”
