“In 5…4…3…2…1…BOOM!” Ryder cheers as the house explodes, shaking us. I back us up as fast as I can, hoping the blow doesn’t reach us and shatter the windows, then I realize even if it did we are safe because these trucks are bombproof; nothing is going to penetrate them.
Getting on the highway, I take a deep breath and shoot Spade a text.
Me:
It’s done. Heading back home!
Spade:
I’ll let her know when she wakes up. See you tonight.
Placing my phone in my pocket, I look over at Jameson and he nods at me, letting me know we did good tonight. I reach for the dash and click on the radio and drive us home.

Demands & Blood
One month later…
“You guys ready? I don’t want to be late,” I yell through the house, waiting by the garage door with my maternity bag in hand. Prince walks up to me, pulling on my pant leg. I scoop him up, and he lays his little head in the crook of my neck. He’s such a Mama’s boy. “I’ll be back soon, baby. Be a good boy for Uncle Ry and Auntie Ophelia,” I tell him, but he snuggles me tighter. “It will be okay. Go play with your brother and sister,” I tell him, placing him on his feet as the guys finally enter the room.
“Ready, Princess?” Jamie asks, and I nod. He steps in front of me, taking my bag from my hand as Prince runs away crying, going right for his Daddy.
“I hate leaving him,” I sigh as Spade consoles him and nods for me to go. I spin and follow Jamie out into the garage as Dario wraps his arms around my big belly.
“Let’s go have a baby, Kitten,” he whispers in my ear, making me giggle. We walk over to my truck, and he opens the door as Jamie climbs into the driver’s seat.
“Meet you there in about two hours?” he asks, and Dario nods.
“Yeah, we will be there shortly,” he answers, kissing me on the cheeks, and shuts my door.
“Are we waiting for Spade?” I ask, but Jamie shakes his head.
“No, he’s still trying to get Prince to calm down,” he states, putting his phone in the cup holder.
“Alright,” I say, folding my hands in my lap.
“Don’t be nervous. You got this!” he assures me, and I nod.
“I know, I just don’t like this part,” I say, and he laughs.
“You will be fine. I, on the other hand, am ecstatic,” he says, making me laugh.
“Yeah, until you pass out seeing all the things they do,” I say, and he raises a brow.
“Hell no, I’m getting front row seats for this! You wait, Princess,” he says, and I just shake my head and lean back against my seat, shutting my eyes.
An hour later we are in the surgery room, waiting for the doctor to come in. I’ve been given my epidural, and Jamie is all suited up, waiting impatiently to get the show on the road. I reach over and grab his hand, squeezing it to get his attention.
“I love you,” I say and he tilts his head, staring into my eyes.
“I love you more, baby,” he replies, smiling under his mask. The doctor finally comes in, and they get to work. Jameson walks over beyond the sheet hanging in front of me and is speaking to the doctor, asking a million and one questions. I see his eyes widen, then he looks at me and then back down at the scene.
“He’s here, Jade. He’s fucking perfect,” he says as a lone tear falls from his eye into the mask.
“Son–” The doctor says as a nurse pukes beside me, and my eyes widen as I see my husband sucking the fucking umbilical cord.Jesus fucking Christ.
“I’d like the placenta as well,” he says, and I roll my eyes as I see him grab a cup, and the doctor's eyes widen, and then I see it. Jameson is drinking my blood, and these doctors and nurses don’t understand my husband or anything that is going on in front of them. Once he’s finished, he pulls the mask back down over his mouth and carries our son over to me and places him in my arms. Big blue eyes and bright blond hair, just like his daddy. His little hand curls around my pinky, and I can’t help but cry. He’s perfect.Preston Reid Rivers is utterly perfect.
