“See you soon,” CJ says excitedly and hangs up.
I turn to see Liam staring at the ceiling, and only after another long moment of silence does he look at me.
“Who was it?” he asks, turning over and placing both hands under his cheek.
“CJ. He said he and Wolf are back from Italy and want to see us. Do you want us to go to your apartment?”
Is it wrong that Ireallywant him to say yes?
“What? We can’t leave if they’re coming here after a long flight.”
I scoff. “Please, they flew private and spent a week inItaly,” I emphasize. “If they’re tired, it’s they’re own fault,” I mumble. “I kinda want us to tire each other out.”
His smile is full of indulgence.
“We’ll get to tire each other out whether we’re here or at my place. Besides, I think spending more time with your friends will be good for me.”
“How so?” I ask with a frown.
“The more time I spend with them, the less nervous I’ll get each time.”
I understand that, and immediately feel like an arsehole.
The difference between his behavior when it’s just us or when we’re with his family and when we’re with anyone else is obvious. And not only do I know how much my friends will like him if they get to know this side of him, but I also know they’ll become his friends too.
“I want to meet your friends too,” I tell him.
“We can arrange that.” He sits up and nods three times in a row. “Since everything with ESoothe is stalled at the moment, William and Parker have more time on their hands, so maybe we can invite them for dinner here sometime.”
“That’s a great idea.” I feel better already and jump out of bed. “Milton will love it if we fill the house with people.”
“Let’s get another shower and make sure we have somethingto offer CJ and Wolf since Milton isn’t here tonight.” He stands as well.
“Oh,” I cry when a lightbulb turns on in my head. “Mike just posted the other day about a Greek restaurant that’s only two blocks over. I’ll find out if they deliver.”
“If they don’t, then we can walk over there. It’s not as hot out now that the sun is going down. And...” He walks over and wraps his arms around me until his hands cup my ass. “If you’ve recovered already, maybe I’ll suck you off in the shower.”
“We have an hour,” I tell him hurriedly and drag him back into the bathroom.
25LIAM
Determinedto overcome any nerves about hanging out with CJ, I drag Carter out of the brownstone so we can order our takeout right at the restaurant and I can hopefully disperse some of the nervous energy with the walk
After Carter’s quick search, he found out they do deliver, but Wolf and CJ are stuck in traffic anyway and it is a nice night.
“I really do believe that the repetition of seeing and talking to them will help in the long run.” I finish my explanation.
“I think it will too,” Carter agrees, and swings our interlocked hands while we walk up the stairs of the brownstone.
We set everything out on the coffee table in the living room after debating where to put it. Carter’s point that they’ll probably want to lounge around and snack on the food is what decides it, and I’m just making sure we have several beverage options available and within reach when we hear the door swing open and the sound of suitcases being wheeled down the hallway.
“We’re here,” I think CJ shouts.
“Come on.” Carter grabs my hand and pulls me to the entrance where he greets everyone, including a very tall and strong man who looks beyond exhausted.
“Why is Rich barely able to stand on his feet?” Carter asks Wolf and slaps his hands on his hips.
“I couldn’t sleep on the flight,” the man who I assume is Rich grumbles.
