For a brief snapshot in time, we stare into each other’s eyes, lost in the depths of emotions as undiscovered and uncharted as the ocean itself.
“What have you done to me?” Holden asks, before he’s kissing me. Consuming me. Overwhelming me.
The ferocity with which he kisses makes my head spin and a lightness and ease settle in my soul. Out here, nothing but the two of us exists. There are no best friends who are mad at us, no lies we’ve told, no painful pasts or fear of commitment. There is only Holden and Remington. Lovers. Friends. Real.
His nose brushes mine, droplets of water dripping along his cheekbones.
“It’s my boyish charm,” I reply. “It makes me irresistible.” The words are delivered against his salty lips, my tongue darting out to catch a droplet of water.
Holden pulls back, his mouth twitching at the sides. “I can resist you.”
He tries to swim away, but I grab his waist and spin him, guiding his arms back around my neck. He’s wearing his black t-shirt again, and I slide my hands beneath it to trace the delicate line of his spine.
“Liar. You’ve turned into a clingy kitty since you found out how amazing my mouth is.”
He chuckles. “Careful, your ego is showing,” he says playfully before pushing out of my arms and darting under the water. Holden’s legs propel him forward and towards one of the archipelago’s more secluded islands.
I chase after him, and when he reaches the shore, he makes a run for it. His feet kick up fine white sand, but the softness of it slows him down and when I reach him, I tackle him to the ground. We land in a tangle of limbs, laughing while trying to fight for top position.
When he finally gets me on my back, I raise my arms in surrender and he splays his body over mine. His hair falls into his face where it has come loose from the tie and his lips tip up into a wicked grin that makes me want to lean up and steal a kiss.
We are a sweaty, sun-drenched mess, and I don’t think I have ever been happier. My mind wants to race ahead to whathappens when we’re off this island, when the wedding is over, when the bet no longer matters. I want to race ahead and find out what becomes of us. Do I want there to be an us after this? Or is a summer fling all this is destined to be?
“Remi? You with me?” Holden asks.
I push aside all the thoughts, knowing that if I let the what-ifs take over, I’ll ruin the here and now. And right now, there is an incredibly sexy man on top of me.
“I’m here, baby.”
Holden leans forward and kisses the side of my neck, grazing his teeth over my heated skin. He changes the position of his hips, causing the solid length in his shorts to brush against me.
“Could you…” he stumbles over his words, his voice breathless in my ear. “Teach me?”
“Teach you…” I mumble, my cock thickening and my pulse soaring.
Holden clears his throat.
“How to blow you.”
Fuck.
Yes.
Please.
My excitement levels skyrocket until a thought occurs to me. Gently pushing him back, I scoot up until we’re sitting opposite each other.
“Are you saying you’ve never...”
Holden is shaking his head before I can finish the sentence.
“And when I sucked you off…”
I can’t tell if the flush on his cheeks is embarrassment, sun, or an adorable combination of both.
“That was my first time.”
Oh.
