I secured my phone and texted my brother.

Me

Marquise, I’m coming down.

Marquise

She left last night.

I made it to what technically was supposed to be our suite. Opening the door, I found my brother standing next to a bucket of unopened champagne and flutes.

“What’s this all about?” I asked, pointing to the celebration.

Marquise popped the bottle and poured me a glass. He handed it to me.

“Toast to my brother for giving up his virginity,” Marquise said, and I put the drink down.

“How do you know I’m still not a virgin,” I asked.

“You got that glow about you,” he said and tapped my stomach.

I sat halfway on the desk and extended my hand. “I fucking knew it. Jhae had your eyes watering. Look at you, pussy whipped,” he said.

Marquise had my number. I woke up this morning ready to empty my checking account. Being inside my wife, sharing our bodies, and leaving a part of me inside her rocked my core.

“What’s the play?” he asked.

I scratched my close, faded beard. “She said she was ready to be my wife. No more running,” I said.

Marquise smacked my hand three times.

“Jhae’s on board?” he questioned with a smile stretching across his face.

“Yea, she said she knows she gon’ lose Mom, but she picked her own personal happiness, which is me.”

“You think Mom gon’ stop talking to her?” Marquise asked.

I wanted to say no, but I wasn’t sure anymore. The woman I knew was kind and sensible, but Jhae had a point. Anissa was my mother. I hoped she loved me enough not to break my wife’s heart.

Jhae

“Right now, I have four songs somewhat written,” I said.

This morning, my body was refreshed after sharing it with Malcolm. He followed my lead as I guided him to my pleasure. With a few more sessions, he would be an expert on my body. Deep down, I knew revealing my location was the best decision I could’ve made.

The thing I noticed about Nia and Anissa was they trusted their men with everything. I personally witnessed Khalil fight for Anissa’s heart and for Nia to give up her family—Ace had to be special. If anyone was going to take care of me, it was Malcolm. For years, I’ve written and sung other people’s love stories, but this time I wanted my own. I prayed Nia was right about Anissa being my true friend.

My eyes lifted as Malcolm re-entered the room. His brown eyes commanded my attention. Damn, he was fine. I wonder ifhe would be willing to let his beard grow a few more inches. He pecked my lips before sitting halfway on the dresser.

“Tyrus, I understand and yes I’m taking this seriously,” I said, before I pressed the end button. I rolled my eyes to the ceiling and Malcolm chuckled.

“I came to get you. Marquise is already downstairs at the restaurant,” he said.

He followed me out the door and to the elevator. Standing next to him, I snickered at the height difference. Even in heels, kissing required him to bend down. Once the doors opened, we climbed on, and I purposely stood in front of him. Malcolm pinched my butt, and I jumped before he kissed my temple.

Stepping inside the restaurant, we found the server smiling at Marquise.

“My brother,” Malcolm projected loud enough for me to hear.
