I jerk away from his touch and his expression immediately shuts down.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," he says, his voice dangerously low.
I freeze, because there's really nowhere else for me to go with me restrained to this stupid bed.
He grabs my chin and I wince as his thumb digs into the scab on my chin.
"Such a pretty face," he murmurs. "I hope this doesn't scar. That would be a shame."
"And what happens if it does leave a scar?" I ask as he removes his hand.
"Oh, then I'd have to find another plaything. I'm not a fan of anything less than perfection."
"I see. Does that mean you'll let me go?"
He throws his head back with laughter.
"Seems Mr. Dominic here didn't get far enough into his explanation then, if you think that there's any chance that you'll ever leave this place."
"He really didn't tell me much," I shrug. "Why don't you tell me what's going on, then?"
"You're interesting," he says. "Different than the other girls we have here. You've got fight in you."
I have something to fight for. I have to make it back to my guys alive. There's no way in hell I'm going to be kept away from them for the rest of my life and especially no way that I'm going to let myself be killed.
I refuse to die in a place like this.
"There are other girls here?" I ask Sebastian. I need to keep this conversation going. I need to know more.
"Of course." He glances at Dom who still has his back pressed against the wall and chuckles. "You really didn't get very far, did you."
Dom just stays silent, as still as a statue.
"Why am I here? What do you want from me?"
"You're going to be our little Guinea pig. We've never gotten the chance to work on a bonded omega before. I'm sure it'll make for some fascinating results."
"Work on? What are you talking about?"
"We're a pharmaceutical company. Our purpose is to develop the next generation of drugs that'll take the market by storm! And we certainly have, considering the reception to our enhancement drugs."
Something clicks in my brain.
Of course this beta would be a little obsessed with something like an enhancement drug to make a beta feel and present like more of an alpha.
"And how is this drug made?" I ask.
"The purified and processed blood of an omega in heat. The longer the heat and the more she's been denied relief, the stronger the drug. Which is why one of the first few drugs we developed was heat inducers. We've gotten them to the point where we can keep an omega in heat for multiple weeks at a time without killing her. It took quite a bit of testing to get there, but it opened so many doors now."
My blood runs cold. I hate the way my scent and the heart monitor beside me reveal so much about my emotions. No matter how hard I try, I can't hide how fucking terrifying that is.
"We've never had one of our omegas bond with any alphas before, which is why you're so special! Imagine the potency of a drug made from your blood, considering your bond! This could be revolutionary!"
Everything makes sense. The missing omega girls. The recent flood of those enhancement drugs on the market. The Sorel Family's expansion.
"And suppressants, I assume your company developed those, too?"
"You're catching on quick," Sebastian chuckles. "They're made at a different facility. But we have a very similar sort of process. Those are made from the processed and purified blood of alphas. Feral alphas. The more feral they are, the stronger the suppressant!"
