Operation Bye-bye Bessie was underway.

SCOTTIE ANDERSON
Iwas still floating in some alternate universe the next day. What Nicholas had done to my body… the things he’d said to me… the way he made me feel. I had no words.
I’d certainly never look at a paintbrush the same way again!
But my floating around on cloud nine was swiftly ended shortly after lunch. I had loaded my car up with the materials I thought Nicholas and I would need today at his place, and I was going to run some errands before heading up to his house, but when I turned the key in my car, Bessie started and then promptly died.
Since it was Sunday, I couldn’t call Dom.
I hated to cancel on Nicholas, but this was out of my hands. I’d tried everything I could to start my car, but after it initially started and ran for a few seconds, it had just died. Since then, the engine wouldn’t turn over.
For all intents and purposes, Bessie was dead to the world right now.
I’d reluctantly texted Nicholas to give him the update.
I’m so sorry to have to do this, but I have to reschedule. My car that you love so much, she won’t start.
He had replied about five minutes later.
Nicholas:
Poor thing.
Nicholas:
But I’m sure she’ll be fine.
Nicholas:
No need to cancel. Be ready at 4:30. I’m picking you up.
I just gaped at my phone. There he went again, just fixing things. Finding no issue with what was clearly an issue.
We had gone back and forth but he’d been very persistent. And that’s how I found myself being picked up by him, yet again.
I was quickly learning that he was a true gentleman because as soon as he pulled up to the curb, he jumped out of his gigantic new truck - one I hadn’t seen before - came over to me, hugged me and then gave me a deep kiss before saying, “You look beautiful, honey. Is this all the stuff?” before he grabbed everything, threw it in his truck, and then ushered me into the new truck. He then proceeded to buckle me in and give me a kiss once more.
“Let’s get going, I’ve got plans for us,” he told me and shut the door before driving us to his house.
My hands were still loaded with my materials as I walked from the mudroom into the open living space and Nicholas was on me. His big arms hugged me from behind as he whispered in my ear, “Let’s go have some fun,” as he led my arms to drop all my stuff to the floor and he kissed my neck.
I immediately melted for him and closed my eyes in pure bliss.
He spun me around in his arms and his lips found mine. I felt him lean down a little and before I knew it he had, much like the night before, lifted me up by the back of my thighs and was carrying me into the house.
When he released my lips I used the opportunity, “Nicholas! Put me down,” and then giggled, not really meaning the admonishment I was pretending to give him.
“Not a chance,” he replied.
He then laid me down on some sort of makeshift bed out on his stone patio that also acted as an extension of his living room. We had meant to set up our easels here to take in the view, but I guess Nicholas had other plans and other inspiration.
Not that I was complaining.
This too was very inspiring.
