“The guys think I spiked–or something close. But that was during the part I can’t remember.” I shrugged.

“Oh.” She made more notes. “Did they mention why they think that?”

“Fever. I whined a lot. Wanted all the sex. Was really wet. Smelled like I needed to be fucked.”My head ducked a little in embarrassment.

“Grace, this is all perfectly natural, no need to be embarrassed.” Her look softened. “You said that you didn’t know you were a gamma until a few months ago. You’re a textbook gamma, which usually means there was a rough period in your life that forced your body to stop developing. Do you remember when that might have been? Maybe a time where you didn’t have enough to eat or feared for your life?”

How did I even answer that? Also, I was still so confused about all this genetic-wise/

“Shit went down when I was seventeen. That might have been it.” It was the truth. If anything was bad enough to stop a genetic process, it was wilderness camp. Though given I was from a different world, I still had no idea how this all worked.

The doc made some more notes. “The reason why I was asking was because the earlier it happens, the closer a body is to being a beta–the later, the more omega-like you can be. It just aids us in helping us figure out what is or should be normal for you.” She eyed my shirt, which was the Rockland Raiders shirt Riley had made me for my birthday. “You like skate smash?”

“Evan’s sister and I are going to a game tonight.” I was excited.

“Then let’s get finished up so that you can go have a good time.”

Rubbing my arm from another shot, I found Evan in the center rec room, having a talk with a sad-looking Rose as they madebracelets. Riley had me help her make a lot of beaded bracelets in preparation for tonight. Apparently, bracelet trading was a big part of professional skate smash.

She waved and I joined them. “Am I interrupting?”

“Iris is bugging me again.” Rose sighed as she strung another bead.

“Again?” I gave her a little hug. Her older sister was still giving her crap about staying in Rockland and attending Finchley instead of going home and getting a job–even though her mom and step-dad continued to tell her to stay.

“Yeah.” She sighed.

Evan’s look told me there was a whole lot more to it.

“I’ll just take a car and get Riley and go to the game,” I suggested.

“It’s fine, Grace,” Evan brushed off. “Rose, I want you to stay on campus as much as you can, okay? If you leave, make sure it’s in a group–and call me if you need me.”

“Okay.” Rose rolled her eyes in that teenage way that meant us adults were overreacting. “Grace, have fun.”

Evan and I left and got into his 4x4.

“Is everything okay?” I asked him.

He frowned, probably trying to determine what he could tell me. “Disconcerting alphas are interested in Rose. I’m not sure if it’s just a pack being a little inappropriate, or if there’s something more here.”

“Oh. More? Like having to do with her uncle and whatever money problems he’s having?” I frowned.

“Yeah. I need to call Detective Esposito.” He sighed. “How’d the doctor's appointment go?”

“They said I can keep off the brace and walking cast. Of course, she also says that I should wait a few weeks before riding my motorcycle. But apparently they’re healing well because my alphas take good care of me? I don’t know what that means.”I rolled my eyes as we plodded through traffic to get to Riley’s school.

“Well, that’s good news. It’s also fast, isn’t it?” Evan grinned. “So… alpha cum has many properties.”

“Yes, they’re full of happy juice. Spencer explained it.” I nodded.

“Yes. However, accelerated alpha healing properties can be passed on through alpha cum.” His grin widened.

“Wow, they really do have magic dicks,” I laughed.

Evan nodded. “They do. Though, you said you ended up in the infirmary at the Temporal Authority. Maybe they healed you, too.”

“Huh. I never thought about that.” I frowned. They had given me different casts. “Um, the Center doctor and I also had a super interesting talk about having kids.”
