“It’s still early yet, so yes, naps for everyone then we’ll have lunch.” Spencer added more garlic. “You do know it’s Friday? It was a lot? I figured Grace being reunited with Wes and Evan might cause a bit of a frenzy.”
“That it did. After lunch let’s go on the boat? Fresh air would be good for everyone. Did you get the boat out?” I got down the coffee.
Spencer nodded as he brushed the marinade on the meat. “Indeed. I even had it checked over and I took it out last night to watch the sunset.”
“That sounds nice.” I pushed the button and leaned against the counter.
“It was. Also, the cleaners will come after lunch while we’re on the boat.” He shot me a look.
Usually, we didn’t have the cleaners come until after we left, and we’d done a lot of work to clean up after ourselves first. I’d make sure we tipped them extra well. This place needed some major airing out, too.
I briefly explained how intense everything was and how this was an attempt to finish things. “Oh, someone would like coffee, a bath, ice cream, and probably some food.”
“Grace.” He covered the meat with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge. Spencer took a container out. “I made some soup knowing she’d want to be fed in the bath. I have her favorite ice cream, but I’d like her to have some food first.”
He made her soup? How adorable.
“I’m glad she’s back.” I opened the fridge and grabbed some yogurt. While I was wrung out, I should eat something.
“Me, too.” Spencer started putting spices away.
At some point I wanted to know what happened. But now wasn’t the time.
A little body in a bathrobe flung herself at Spencer.
“Darling.” Spencer held her tight and kissed the top of her wet head. “Would you like me to draw you a bath and feed you some soup?”
She nodded, sniffling.
I poured her some coffee, making it how she liked, and handed it to her.
“Thank you.” Still nestled in Spencer’s arms, she drank her coffee, making happy noises.
I finished my yogurt and threw the container away, putting the spoon in the sink. Grace was quiet, snuggled with Spencer.
“Why don’t I go get your bath ready?” Spencer kissed her and left.
“I’m going to take a shower and have a nap,” I told her. Hopefully, Brennan didn’t hunt my ass down and was instead getting Evan showered.
I looked in the cupboard and took down a bottle of pain reliever because I ached. Taking two, I grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge and swallowed them down.
“Need some?” I offered Grace the bottle.
Grace took two with her coffee. “Thank you.”
“Anytime, Babydoll. Welcome home.” I kissed her on the cheek and went upstairs to the nest to bring down more laundry. Evan, Wes, and Brennan were in the shower. Good.
I brought more sheets down to the laundry room then went up to the room that Brennan and I shared.
It was a simple room with a big wooden bed and matching furniture. Everything was done in dark blue and grey. I closed the blinds and turned on the lamp. Did I want the fireplace? Maybe.
Shower, sauna, bath, maybe another shower, nap? Or maybe just shower, sauna, shower, nap…
There was a knock on the open door. Grace stood there holding a little box.
“Hi, Peaches. You can come in.”
Grace ran in and snuggled into me. Someone needed all the cuddles? Fine with me.
