So, I went in search of Wes who was in his office, working. Though I wasn’t sure if it was work for Spencer or work for Brennan. There was a whole lot going on right now withthe Queen Mum and Brennan worried about both us and his business getting attacked.

Also, I’d gotten a really weird message today at work from someone claiming to be Rose’s bio-dad. He said that he’d just found out that his ex-wife was in jail and wanted permission to contact her. While I knew her stepfather was her stepfather, and there was a bio-dad in her record and the names matched, I was wary. Why now? What if this was part of whatever plot was going on?

Not that I knew what it was about. Those guys had stopped bothering Rose. Detective Esposito had gone silent. The uncle was in jail awaiting his trial for both everything at the school and the restaurant. Though I was a little afraid that someone would spring him and he’d run.

Wes was in his office, looking delicious, hunched over his laptop, shirtless.

He looked over at me. “Are you just going to watch me from the doorway?”

“No, I’ll watch you from right here.” I plopped down in the beanbag next to his desk that was there for precisely this reason.

“And there you are, looking so cute.” He gave me a hungry gaze.

“Wanna do something about it? Like snuggle me on the couch and watch a home decorating show? I can’t sleep,” I told him.

“Worrying about Grace?” He closed his laptop.

“An alpha hurting her is worrisome.” But it was more like curiosity if she was actually going to bond Spencer tonight or not. It had been a bit since we’d texted. “I also miss her so fucking much,” I added.

“Me, too. But she’ll be back on Saturday.” He helped me up.

“True.” I made sure I had nothing going on Sunday so that I could give herallof my attention. I’d even gotten a new candle and bubble bath.

Wes and I made some popcorn and settled onto the couch. I turned on my favorite home decorating show.

I squirmed because while I hadn’t felt a bite, they were definitely doing something.

Wes pulled me closer. “What’s wrong?”

“Do you feel Grace when she’s with someone?” I leaned into him, getting a good hint of his laundry scent.

“While I do feel her more now, I um, try to block all that out. Same with you. Not because I don’t want you with other people, it just um, gets distracting sometimes.” He kissed my temple. “Wait, can you not? I don’t know how your bond might be different.”

“Part of it is that I don’t want to.” I grinned sheepishly. Yeah, it was a bit like voyeurism, but I liked it and she, too, had the ability to block me out. Though she wasn’t very good at it yet.

“I see.” Wes grinned back.

“But it’s also harder,” I told him. “I don’t think it’s an us thing, it’s a her thing.”

Right now, she was enjoying herselfverymuch.

“Okay. I’m sure there’s a video on it.” Wes laughed.

There was a whole unit on regulating bonds.

We continued watching the show then…

My bond with her sizzled. “Fuck.”

“I felt that. Wow, that man is fast, but I did tell him to go for it.” Wes rubbed his chest.

“Awww, you did? I’m proud of you.” I kissed him. Wes was handling all of this so well. Sometimes it was hard for alphas to share, even with their packmates.

Love from Grace wrapped around me through the bond.

“I talked to her about it earlier,” I admitted. “She was trying to work out if she wanted to do it now or later.”

There he was, just a whisper of Spencer. Just like I’d gotten hints of Grace through my bond with Wes before the two of us had bonded.
