Evan

The smell of delicious rotisserie lamb drifted in off the back porch. That was part of Lexi’s delivery fee. My phone buzzed.

Lexi

Got the package, delivery en route.

I texted my sister Sonja as I plopped down on a chair on the patio, to enjoy the afternoon breeze and the lake view.

Me

Lexi has Riley and is taking her to the cabin.

Sonja

Thanks for letting me know.

When do I get to meet Grace? When’s the wedding? I’ve heard so much about her from Riley that I feel like we’re besties.

Sonja and Grace besties? Actually, they’d probably get along well or at least have a lot of respect for each other. I replied.

Me

Don’t worry, I won’t use your date. Do you have one yet?

She was younger than me, lived outside Portland with her fiancée, and worked at an exclusive academy for gifted students. It was her dream job, and she was so happy.

Sonja

We were thinking of eloping. Thoughts?

Me

I volunteer one of Brennan’s resorts. We’ll cover the costs. Promise we won’t crash.

Unless you want us to.

I sent her a link to his properties. Spencer and I had already talked about offering to pay for it.

Sonja

I always forget that your packmate owns luxury hotels. Actually, this might be nice. We’ll look it over and get back to you. Thank you.

Me

We’ll probably get married next May. Get together soon? I’d like you to meet her.

Grace and Sonja’s fiancée might get along, too.

My sister knew a bit about Grace. We texted frequently and talked occasionally, mostly regarding Riley, but other things slipped in there.

Riley had sent a bunch of pictures. There were texts from my other sister Sasha, berating my life choices. There was a reason why Riley did things with my sisters without me.
