That had also broken Wes and Evan. Both had been inconsolable. Even now, I think the ferocity of this heat was because the two of them were trying to fill what they lost with each other.
I hoped that Riley was right, and Grace came back. Spencer telling us she was probably dead didn’t help.
Was Spencer here? I hadn’t anticipated things lasting longer so we’d gotten the normal amounts of things. Also, usually, Spencer would come by and fill up the fridge. Sometimes, when I came out of the nest during a lull he’d even make me something to eat.
Opening the last bottle of sports drink, I downed half of it along with a granola bar as I checked my phone, hoping that Spencer was here with groceries. Maybe he’d bring up a plate of sandwiches.
Oooh, Spencer had texted several times since I last checked my phone.
Spencer
Grace was just dropped off at the house. She’s unconscious and in my arms.
Grace is awake. She’s physically fine from what I can see but needs a lot of care. I’ll keep you updated.
Oh? She was back? What?
Happiness flooded me. Not just because it would mean everything to Wes and Evan, but because for all her secrets, I genuinely liked her.
I texted him back.
Me
Please bring her when she’s ready.
Also, please bring food. Thank you.
Grace was back. But why had they taken her in the first place? I texted her as well.
Me
I’m so relieved that you’re home. We were all worried. Please come up to the cabin today. Evan’s been asking for you. I hope that you need lots of love because Evan and Wes have been even thirstier than usual.
Yeah, that would be just what Evan needed. Though it might make everything last even longer.
Getting some clean sheets from the basket I put them upstairs along with the last bottles of water and granola bars.
Now everyone was asleep. Good. Maybe I should go downstairs and see what we had in the fridge. Also, I wasn’tgoing to tell anyone that she was back until she actually arrived. Just in case.
The kitchen was dark and quiet. According to my phone it was very early Wednesday morning. It reeked down here, too, but I didn’t have the energy to air it out.
Opening the fridge, I found the things we’d brought to make food in case Spencer didn’t come. Did I have enough time to make some bacon? No. I’d just make some eggs and hope I could shower and get in a little nap before Brennan hunted my ass down.
Heating a pan, I got out the eggs, whisked them together, then cooked them. Feeling Brennan stirring through the bond, I began eating them straight from the pan as soon as they finished cooking.
Given we’d been living on protein and granola bars, they tasted like the best, most wonderful eggs in the world.
“Jett.” Brennan’s voice cut through the darkness.
And there he was.
“Want some eggs, Honey?” I’m sure he could use some food.
He was still in the throes of Evan’s heat. I could see it, in his eyes, in his face.
I held out a forkful of eggs and fed it to my alpha. My love.
“Mmmm. Perfect.” He licked his lips. Lust filled his eyes as he grabbed the back of my head and kissed me.
