“I’ve got to go, but good night.” Spencer left.
“No Evan?” I tried to hide my disappointment as I cleared off the game so Wes could set the food on the table. “I know he was staying at the house tonight, but he said he was going to drop by.”
“I know. We forgot it was Thursday.” He kissed my temple.
“What’s on Thursday?” I asked. Wes was constantly touching me, which didn’t help my thirsty thoughts.
“He does something with his baby sister every Thursday. She lives at her high school but sometimes spends weekends with us.” He took containers out of the bag.
“Evan was telling me about his sisters this morning when you were troubleshooting work stuff. I can’t wait to meet her.” I liked teenagers. Back when I was supposed to become a teacher per my mother’s demands, I’d wanted to teach high school, not kindergarten.
“We can tell him we miss him.” Wes whipped out his phone, took a picture, and sent it to him.
Wes
Miss you.
Evan
Miss you both. Peaches, kiss him for me, okay?
While Wes and I had cuddled a lot today, we hadn’t kissed since yesterday morning after my shower.
I took Wes’ phone.
Wes
Are you sure it’s okay? ~ Grace.
Evan
It’s okay. Kiss him more than once and have a sexy cuddle–or more.
“It’s really okay, isn’t it?” I chewed on my lower lip. I watched a couple of videos today that helped me to understand more about how packs and relationships worked in this world.
“It is, Peaches.” He cupped my face with his hands. “As long as you’re not out to break our hearts or break us up, we’re all yours. All you have to do is wrap your head around it.”
It would be so easy to do that. I still felt so much for him. Leaning in, I kissed him slowly, reacquainting our lips. My heart sped, and before he could wrap his arms around me, I broke it off, brain screaming for more. Like whatever a sexy cuddle was.
Giving him a coy smile, I opened a container.
I got a better look at the food, which was not only artfully arranged, but garnished, and had little containers of sauces. “Spencer went to a fancy restaurant, didn’t he?”
Wes held up the bag. “Yep. He’s a showoff. You said your favorite carb was potatoes, these are some of the best mashed potatoes in the city. After this, we can cuddle some more.”
My insides melted. I was getting myself into trouble. But I’d think about it later. Right now, I’d eat dinner with the person who had once been more important to me than anyone in all the worlds. Someone who was very much real despite everything they’d told me.
Someone I might still be in love with.
Chapter Twenty
Spencer
“Ifind it curious how a successful alpha like you didn’t have a pack until so recently. After all, you are so much older than everyone else, Mr. Thanukos.” Mrs. Beekman stared at me across my desk as we sat in my office.
So much older.Ow. I was less than three years older than Evan. I’d started graying very early–after Elaris died.
“Time,” I brushed off. “Not all alphas have packs, you know.”
