“Seven?”

What?

“Is that not enough? I don’t know what series you’re reading right now.” He held up a pencil pouch with Aquatica from the Defender League on it and put it in the basket. “You should get this.”

A woman looking at cards glanced over at him, then to me. “He’s a keeper.”

“He is.” I giggled, then wrapped my arms around him. “I’m keeping you.”

Clark set down the basket and picked me up off the ground. “Okay.”

He put me down and scampered off. I perused the ultra-cute and slightly-overpriced stationery section. I’d planned on just going to Swoop. Everything here was so freaking cute. I could let him buy me cute school supplies, right? Just a couple of things.

I mean, I needed that Aquatica pencil pouch.

But I wouldn’t let him buy me seven books. Four. Yeah, that was good. I did have to think about getting everything back on his motorcycle.

Some star-shaped paperclips and a pack of dragon erasers went into the basket.

Five books. And no more. I took the paperclips out.

I looked at two different packages of gel pens. Since I had all the cute outfits for class, I should get cute pens.

A display full of space books caught my eye as I added the matching pack of highlighters. Pondering my basket, I put back one pack of pens. No need to be greedy.

“Here you go.” Clark bounded over and shoved a bubble tea in my hand.

“Thanks.” I took a sip. “You remembered I like brown sugar milk tea.”

“Of course I did.” His brown eyes sparkled through his black-framed glasses. “I remember everything about you.”

My pussy clenched. “If you keep talking like that…”

“Like what, Ladybug?” He got close to me, scent flaring with desire. Then he took a loud slurp of his own bubble tea. “I’m going to look at comics.” Clark scampered back off.

I chuckled as I wandered over to the display. Oooh, the author of the Intrepid Space Explorer books had a new series? SpaceRomantasy?Yes, please.

As I sipped my tea, I pursued the shelves, looking at all the new releases. When had I last bought new books? My birthday maybe? With a gift card?

Clark came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist as he slipped a graphic novel, some comics, and a Professor Weird sticker into the basket.

“Hi.” I leaned into him. “Professor Weird?”

“That’s Tens’ favorite. His water bottle is naked. We should fix that.” He nodded sagely.

“Oh, we should.” I stroked the spine of the book, then put it back. You couldn’t have a naked water bottle.

Clark eyed the basket. “There’s only five.”

“They’rehardcovers. Two are special editions with sprayed edges.” I chewed on my lower lip. I had quite the haul here. Maybe I should put one back? Especially since I got some cute school supplies?

“Get the books, Gweny.” His voice grew rumbly as he buried his face in my neck.

“It’s fine, really.” I couldn’t bring myself to get seven.

“Okay. We can always get more later.” He wrapped his arms around me. “I’ll carry it.” Taking the basket from me, Clark headed toward the register.

I followed.
