Yeah, let’s go to the cabin. Maybe somewhere along the way, we could stop for a quick fuck.
Chapter Forty-Eight
Verity
My mouth tasted nasty, and every muscle ached. Even ones I didn’t know I had.
Also, I felt horny.Veryhorny.
My eyes pried themselves open. It took a moment for everything to come into focus. I wasn’t in my room–or any room at the guys’ place.
No, I seemed to be in lumberjack paradise with a gigantic bed hewn of logs, along with the rest of the furniture in the room, and wood-paneled walls. A fireplace roared in the background.
It smelled likeJonas.
Where was I? My phone sat plugged in on the nightstand along with a water bottle, a sandwich, a thermal coffee cup, two pills, and a little tablet.
As well as a text from Jonas.
Jonas
We’re at the cabin. Drink your water. Have your tea. Eat your sandwich. Take your meds and a shower. Find us when you’re ready. No rush. I love you.
Yes, Mercy is okay and with your brothers.
What? The last thing I recalled was being at the gala and Freddie wanted to talk…
My hand flew to my shoulder. A big bandage covered both sides. Memories smacked me in the face. Some bitch tried to shoot Grif.
How did I get to their cabin? Also, I wasnaked.
I took the medicine, gulping the water. The tumbler had a still-warm chai latte in it. Huh.
The sibling group chat was full of sex jokes. I didn’t have the headspace for that, though I checked in with Mercy. Grace’s text caught my eye.
Grace
Glad they took you away to recuperate. Call me if you need me.
Made sense. But I still didn’t recall going to the hospital, being discharged, or coming here.
Groaning, I made my way slowly to the bathroom. It was done in wood paneling and granite tiles, with a trough sink and recessed lighting.
Oh, that giant tub. It occupied one corner and looked out into a window. All I saw was darkness. The rest of the wall was a slate and granite rain shower with glass doors.
As much as I wanted to find someone and figure out what had happened, they were all probably sleeping. The bond I had with Grif felt quiet.
I’d take a hot bath and be careful not to get the bandage too wet. Then I’d track everyone down and figure out what happened.
Or at least find someone to snuggle with.
Or I could stay in the tub until someone found me. With how deep the tub was, I wasn’t sure if I could get myself back out.
Not necessarily a bad thing.
While the bath filled, I munched on the sandwich. Someone had packed me a bag of clothes, which sat on the chair by the fireplace. It was mostly panties and their T-shirts. Sadly, no vibrator because I’d like the unicorn horn one right now.
No. The tentacle one. Definitely the tentacle.
