He laughs like he’s crazy too. “I can’t wait to have you. Not to breed, no, that’s for Lord Higher and the beasts, but I want to feel your cunt wrapped around me at least once.”
“You’re sick.” I try to sound strong, but my voice wavers.
“I am a Higher. Now, let’s see how strong you are.” Then he drops his barrier.
I lunge, but he’s faster, sending out a wave of magic that sends me flying back. I gasp for breath as I land against the cell bars, Darius roaring on the other side of the room when I collapse to the floor, smacking my head off the stone.
I can see Frederick coming closer through my blurry vision, and I groan as I try to get up, wetness spilling down the side of my temple and cheek. I try to move, do anything.
I will not be taken by him.
Come on, come on. I will my power as Runa whimpers inside of me, my body feeling sluggish.
But I feel it then, a little spark of it, and then another surge.
I raise my hand and aim.
Frederick, caught off guard, manages to dodge most of the attack, but some catch his side.
He cries out, going to one knee as his face turns into something painful.
I grip the bar of the cell hauling myself to my wobbly feet and raise my hand again.
Now’s my chance. I can get him, knock him out and get him to tell us everything, how we can catch Charles off guard.
I stumble forward, about to aim at his temple when his hand comes up faster than I was expecting, and then it’s around my throat, bloodied teeth smirking.
“Do you ever wonder how that memory crystal ended up in Eridian, how Aldus found it? There was already one there… waiting for the perfect time to strike after Lord Higher found out there was a hidden pack. You are not the only traitor we know of,” he says, and I freeze, his words rattling around in my mind. He lifts a knife in his other hand and sinks it into my shoulder. I cry out, wrapping my own hand around his wrist, trying to call my power but there is nothing there. He laughs, head tipped back at the look on my face. No… “Oh, this is going to be fun youstupid bitch—” He gurgles suddenly, eyes widening and then his hand goes slack.
I blink, watching as he crumbles to the floor, blood blooming from his chest and then there is Darius— Pure Alpha, rage pouring off of him, bloodied blade in hand as he snarls down at Frederick.
“You do not. Fucking. Touch her!” he roars down at him, and then he’s on him.
His fists pummels all over. His face, his chest, his ribs. Bones break, screams erupt, blood splatters. He doesn’t stop. Just growls and snarls, his magic flowing wild around him.
I slump down, watching as blood goes everywhere.
I don’t even try to stop Darius, don’t even open my mouth to tell him to keep him alive so we can get information.
I can’t.
My mind is stuck on what he said, about the crystal.
A hand on my shoulder has me flinching, and my head turns to Josh, eyes full of concern. He sees my exhaustion, the wounds still bleeding all over my body.
But it’s emotionally where I am wrecked the most.
It cannot be.
“What is it?” he asks, brows furrowed. He knows something isn’t right.
“Come with me,”I tell him down the link.
He’s confused, I know he is, but he nods when he sees the look on my face, trusting me. We have been together long enough for him to know I need to do something.
“Where to?”
Darius’s head lifts suddenly, his eyes on me.
