I feel the moment his powerful legs bend, putting strength into them as he launches himself up and off the ground. I feel air brushing past me, feeling weightlessness as I scream into his neck, my stomach in my throat.
Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.
Then, we descend.
My hair whips around us and my thighs squeeze his waist as I scream.
We are so going to fucking die.
But then I feel solid fucking ground and my teeth rattle on impact
Ow, that hurts.
Anoomphleaves me as we roll, Darius’s power leaping out of him and around me as we continue to tumble over the hard, rocky ground. His hand comes to the back of my head, holding me close, trying to protect me from any damage as he grunts in pain.
We roll one more time, and then come to a slow stop, Darius below me and me on top. Groans sound around us and I pant into his neck, trying to calm my racing heart.
Darius rubs my back, and I lift my head tentatively, moving the hair away from my face.
“I got you, it’s okay,” Darius murmurs to me as I try to calm my racing heart, sucking in deep breaths.
I sit up, my hands planting on Darius’s chest as he moves his hands to my hips. I quickly look around.
The Elites, Josh and trolls are all sprawled out on the dirt ground we’re on, breathing heavily as they catch their breath. Crumbling sounds pierce the air behind us, and I look back to the bit of land we just jumped from as parts of it break off and fall into the large ravine that separates us.
The ravine we could have fallen to our death in.
“Gods,” I mutter, waiting as the last of the mountain on the other side falls, dust climbing in the air from it, forming a cloud and obscuring my vision of the other side.
“Well,” Damian mutters, and my eyes go to him star-fishing on the floor next to Taylor. “I don’t want to do that again.”
Leo rolls his eyes and Jerrod kicks his legs. A laugh tumbles out of me on its own accord as everyone agrees.
Definitely do not want to do that again.
A squeeze on my hips has my eyes going back to Darius, a smirk upon his lips. I narrow my eyes at him.
“Don’t say a word,” I warn, my eyes glaring as my cheeks heat.
His smile stretches, knowing I’m embarrassed about thinking we would fall to our death.
In my defense, there is a giant fucking hole in the ground.
I ignore Darius’s smile and look over him, searching for any injury as he does the same to me. Apart from the dirt that clings to us, we came out unscathed other than a few scratches. More on Darius than me as he protected me.
“I told you that you weren’t going to die,” he says smugly. “I never took you as a dramatic one.” The amusement on his face is plain to see, and I scowl down at him.
“We are wolves, not fucking dragons. We like the ground.”
A laugh rumbles from his chest and the sound goes straight to my heart. “Imagine where I could fuck you if we had wings,” he muses, and I raise a brow.
“That is the first thought in your mind after we took a leap of death?” Is he insane?
“Oh, little wolf,” he purrs, and I dig my fingers into his chest. “I’m always thinking about fucking you.”
“What is wrong with you,” I groan, leaning forward and putting my face back against his neck to hide my heating cheeks again.
“When you are one with your wolf, you will feel the same and want to fuck me all the time too,” he chuckles again, bringing a hand to the back of my head and running his fingers through my hair, a hum leaving him.
