“What are you thinking about?” Darius asks, and his arms come around me, pulling me into his safety.
My hand rests on top of his, watching the horizon.
“I'm thinking that some days I may not remember that I am free now, that I don't need to hide who I am or be scared. And I know it will take time,” I tell him, turning in his arms. “But Iknow you will be there to remind me for the rest of my days.” He smiles down at me, and I smile back.
He bends down, plucking a flower and placing it behind my ear, stroking his fingers down the side of my face, making my stomach flutter.
“I will always be here to remind you, Vihnarn.”
It’s a promise, a vow, one I will return.
He bends and rubs his nose with mine, then we are barreled over by Runa and Drax, and we all fall in a lump on the floor.
I’m stunned for a moment as is Darius, but then he laughs.
And I fall in love all over again, watching as he wrestles with Runa and she playfully nips at him, knowing he will be waiting to catch me with open arms.
Our beginning was one of pain and torment, but it turned into something so precious, this is another moment that I will keep in my memory as one I will cherish.
Because my love for him will not be fleeting, it will be indefinite, and he will always be mine.
Just for me.
And as he looks at me, that boyish grin appearing, his eyes roaming my face, he knows that I am his.
Always.
Just like it was supposed to be.
