“Darius?” I try to free myself, but the frantic look in his eyes stops me.
His eyes bounce between mine before they roam over my face, his grip almost punishing.
“Be safe,” he tells me, his voice gruff.
My brows furrow. “Of course.” I nod and go to move, but he hauls me back “Dar—”
He kisses me.
It’s brutal and hard, and I gasp into his mouth, his purr sending shivers down my spine. Darius doesn’t relent, he just hauls me closer and deepens the kiss, his tongue tangling with mine. Tasting, savoring.
Cherishing.
I whimper, gripping his arm as I feel his power wrap around my waist. When he pulls back, he rubs his nose to mine, squeezing his eyes shut, tightly.
“Darius…?” I question, but he just shakes his head and opens his eyes.
“Stay safe, Vihnarn.” He says again, and I nod slowly, unsure what just happened.
“And you,” I tell him, and he strokes the backs of his fingers down my face.
“Always you, little wolf.”
With one last lingering look, he removes his magic and he rushes into the fray of rogures and beasts, leaving me standing there for a moment.
I reach for our link and feel it there, steady and true, so I shake myself out of my stupor to go to where I last saw Josh.
I stab and kick, push my power to its limits as I fight with the hounds plaguing the land. Runa is at my side, snarling and gnawing her way through as I spot a blonde head just ahead.
I rush for him, climbing on Runa’s back in one smooth motion and then I’m there, next to him.
“You okay?” I ask when Josh spots me, and he nods, wiping the blood dripping down the side of his head.
“Yeah, but some need healing, can you do that?” I look at the way the Elites and some of the people have created a wall around what looks like injured people on the ground.
“I can,” I tell him, my eyes searching and seeing Darius a ways across from me, battling with ease alongside his brothers.
“I’m going to heal some of the wounded, okay?” I tell Darius.“Then they can help in the battle?”
“Good plan, We will try and draw attention away. I’ll let my Elites know.”
I jump down from Runa, blessing the ground and causing a wave of purple to spread out. Hoping it will help slow some down.
Following Josh, he takes me to the injured and I waste no time. Ignoring the wet ground from the snow as it seeps into me, and the blood staining me, I place my hand on the first person’s injury. A nasty gash in his side.
I focus my power there to begin to fix him, stitching my strands in a way to close the wound and begin healing.
“Why aren’t they ported out?” I ask Josh, wiping the beads of sweat from my forehead.
I haven’t used this much power at all, and it’s beginning to take its toll on me.
“They have used them up,” Josh says, helping the guy next to me.
“Already?”
He nods solemnly. “We have a lot of injured back at Eridian, but the witches went to help them.
I nod in approval. “That was a smart choice.” I wait until the male’s side is closed up before I stand. “There, just keep stilland wait to heal some more, and then we need to help kill the beasts,” I tell him.
