I raise a brow at Leo.

He shrugs.

Only he would use a bow indoors.

I shove Richard away from me, eyes on Patrick as he stands at the back, looking between us all, a hand to a bleeding wound on his side.

He must have gotten injured somehow.

“Traitor,” he spits at me, eyes wild.

I smirk, showing him my bloodied teeth from battle. “I’m a traitor with what you have all been doing? With what you had done to your own flesh and blood?”

“She is weak,” Selene spits, body shaking. “Just like you. I told your father you would not come over to our side, and I was right.”

“Yes, you were,” I deadpan. “I’m not evil. An asshole, yes, but not evil.”

“Leave,” the cousin who I can’t remember the name of points at the door, just as a creak of a step on the stairs has us looking that way. Sophia, another cousin, walks into the room, eyes hard with a short sword in her hand.

“You are outnumbered,” she says, shaking her head, “Leave and we won’t report your whereabouts.”

Patrick cackles. “Though it will only be so long until Lord Higher has you beneath his paw.” He produces a knife from his back pocket and aims it at me. “Though I may take your head first.”

I look at Leo. “Do you think Rhea would want this home?” I ask him. “Everyone seems to be here.”

He actually looks deep in thought for a moment. “No, I think there are too many bad memories tainting it now.”

He’s right. And just like a phoenix, she will rise from the ashes anew.

I look at her family. “You’re right,” I respond, looking around until I see some firewood off to the side. I walk over to it, causally picking them up and placing them on the table as the others back away, still threatening me with weapons.

“What are you doing, get out of my home!” Selene shouts, hands to her chest as she gasps in fright.

“Leo,” I nod to the firewood and he grins. Coming over, he gets out a smaller knife and some flint.

Then he begins to stroke the knife over the flint and get some sparks.

“Guards, guards!” Selene cries as the others rush me. I raise a hand and put a barrier around us.

No guards will come, they are with the below now.

When they realize they cannot get through my barrier, they head to the front door, I smirk.

When they open it, they are hit with a black wall.

“There is no leaving this place until I say so…which I won’t,” I inform them.

“Mother, what does he mean?” Sophia asks, panic in her voice.

“Try the windows,” Richard says, but I ignore them all flurrying around, trying to escape when I know they can’t. My barrier surrounds all exits to this house.

Patrick stands there, sweat beading his brow and when the fire starts on the table, he trembles.

“The thing is,” I tell them, picking up a chair and smashing it on the floor as they start to cough. “I like my little wolf very much, and I need to make her feel better. Understand?”

Patrick shakes his head. “She was mine first!” he gasps, holding onto his throat as the others break out into a coughing fit.

“Ah but you see,” I tell him, snapping a leg and throwing it into the fire as it begins to spread. “That’s where you are wrong, she washers.” I open my barrier a little and go for him. “And you’re coming with me.”
