Yes. Home.

It feels good to say that.

Opening the door, I hear the water through the pipes, thankful it is working properly. I head up the stairs, running my hand up the banister and when I get to the top, Darius comes out of the bathroom, water dripping down his naked torso.

I halt on the last step, my heart beating faster and Darius’s eyes instantly darken. After taking a deep breath, he turns and heads to my room.

I blink.

That’s it? Where are his arms wrapping around me? Where are his kisses and rumbling sounds as he inhales me?

Part of me wants to go after him, but another part thinks, fuck him, and I go for my shower instead.

The whole time I’m scrubbing myself, I silently snarl at the asshole in my room, cursing him to the below. If that was any other time, he would have dragged me to the nearest surface and had his way with me, but he hasn’t touched me in days.

Sulking, yes, I’m sulking, I wrap the towel around me, then realize I didn’t bring any clothes in here.

Looks like I am going to have to be near Darius after all.

Padding into the bedroom, ignoring the male within, I rifle through my drawers, looking for anything to put on.

“Are you pouting?” he asks, his deep voice startling me.

I spin, holding the towel to my chest and scowling. “No.”

I turn back around as he chuckles, and then I feel his heat at my back.

I try to quiet the intake of breath and the tremble in my body, but he knows what he does to me.

“Yes, you are pouting.” He runs his nose up the side of my neck. “Adorable.”

I shove him back with a shoulder. “I’m not adorable. Don’t you have,” I wave my hand around, “I don’t know, things to do other than being near me?”

Well I didn’t mean to saythat.

My pout deepens as I internally sigh. Never let a male know how you are hurting, dumbass.

“Are you feeling neglected, little wolf?” I can hear the damn smirk in his voice.

Yes. “No,” I say.

He turns me with a hand on my arm. “Come with me.” His tone is dead serious now, and my spine straightens. “Nothing is wrong.” He reassures me, some of his magic coming out to stroke my arm.

He turns and grabs something off the bed that I hadn’t noticed. He hands it to me and as I hold it out, I realize it is another white dress.

This one is a little more sheer though, it’s long, to my ankles and has thin straps.

I raise my head in question.

“Get dressed and stay barefoot.” He places a piece of my still-wet hair behind my ear “Hair down.”

“Why?”

He turns. “We have something to do,” he tells me softly. “Get ready.”

Looking up at the night sky, thousands of stars twinkle, glittering in the darkness. Darius holds my hand in his, wrapping his power around them as he guides me through the forest.

He’s wearing black pants, is shirtless and barefoot, and I’m able to make out the scars on his back, causing my stomach to sink at the reminder of them.
