He softens the kiss after a long while, gently nipping and swiping his tongue across my lips like he can’t get enough. He nuzzles his head into my neck, a tortured ‘Rhea’ spilling from his lips as he kisses me there.
I don’t know why he said my name like that, why he’s chanting it into my neck with his kisses, but goosebumps cover my body at it.
I bring my hands around his neck, pulling him closer as I peel my eyes open and see complete darkness. I call my magic, and small balls of lights glow next, making me able to see his face as I pull him from my neck.
We stare at each other, chest heaving and full of tension, but the good kind as I stare at him.
And I see everything in this moment.
Past, present, future.
His brows furrow, his eyes changing from confusion to adoration, switching from one to the next until it lands on something even deeper.
“Rhea...”
He trails off when we hear, “you fuckers, how long are you going to keep us waiting?”
Darius’s eyes turn angry and he growls at the voice.
Moment gone.
“We were coming Josh, we just wanted to… play?”
I realize how that sounds and Darius smirks down at me as my cheeks redden.
“Ew, Milal, really?”
The barrier is gone in an instant and I’m up on my feet the next. I dust myself off. “Yes, problem?”
Josh shuffles where he stands. “Well, I don’t want to see my sister doing…that?” he waves a hand at us, and I laugh.
“You idiot, we were actually playing. We raced, I won,” I say proudly.
Darius huffs next to me. “You cheated, you mean,”
I face him. “No, I took initiative.”
“By running off before we even began.” His voice is deadpanned.
“You were slow.”
“And you are a bold little wolf.” He steps toward me.
“Um…I don’t want to be a part of your guys’ fucked up foreplay, I’m just—Oomph.”
We both turn and see Drax standing there, glaring down at Josh.
“Gods, you are too big.” Josh shakes his head up at him. “Don’t tell me you hate me talking to her too? Come on,” he says, exasperated.
Runa comes beside Drax, rubbing up against him before she bends down and licks Josh’s cheek.
“Thanks…” Josh says, wiping her saliva off as I laugh into the side of Darius’s arm.
Drax growls at Runa for that, and I shake my head.
Possessive, just like his keeper.
A dark, gray wolf emerges next, slower, hesitant, and I straighten as I move toward Axis.
