A painful scream has my head whipping to the right at the other cells. A naked female body is suddenly slammed up against the front bars, causing me to startle. I go to get up, but in the next moment, one of those human-rogure beasts comes up behind her.

My hand goes to my mouth as it pins her still, then she screams again, her hands gripping the bars as her body shakes with sobs as she’s pushed into the bars again and again in a rhythm. The beast’s claw-like hands grip her naked hips, causing blood to start dripping down as it moves forward and backwards against her, his grunting growls causing me to shiver.

Oh Gods.

It’s…it’s fucking her.

I thought maybe what happened in the other room was just an anomaly, that it was a mistake to put a beast in a room with a female. That the notes we found were just a coincidence…

But what I’m witnessing now, it’s the same. It’s purposefully done.

The notes we found confirmed exactly how a new rogure was claiming a female, how she was in heat, how she fell pregnant and was moved somewhere else.

Is this what he was doing in his basement? Are these beast-like humans the new rogures that were mentioned?

My wide, teary eyes turn to the others, and they have similar faces of shock and disgust, mixed with pain at seeing the woman being brutally raped by that beast.

Darius’s eyes meet mine, and I see the rage bleeding into them, slowly seeing the wolf within taking over.

Seeing his rage for this woman makes me suck in a shuddering breath and I wipe at my tears angrily, getting my shit together. I grind my teeth but I don’t look away from him, letting him see a mirrored version of himself.

The fury of an Heir.

I nod my head to the woman, wanting to go to her quickly, to get that fucking thing away from her. I check my mask and adjust my blade, ready to do so on his command, but his hand halts any movement.

My eyes widen when he shakes his head.

He can’t be serious, he can’t leave her like that!

The woman’s sobs become weaker, and he squeezes his eyes shut for a moment but shakes his head harder.

No, no, no. We can’t leave her like that.

“Give him another dose of ultrian,” a voice says, and I swear that my heart stops.

I don’t breathe, don’t move apart from my head turning slowly to the newcomer’s voice.

That’s why Darius was shaking his head at me, he knew someone else was there…

The male comes in with another at his side, both of them wearing cloaks but with their hoods down. Two Highers, Frederick, and Mathew, make their way to the center of the room.

To that beast.

Another shadow catches my eye.

Another beast presses its body to the bars, watching the one across from it rape that woman. He snarls, saliva dripping down its muzzle as its slightly-pointed ears twitch.

Just how many are there?

A little body comes up to the bars of another cell further down from it. His little hands appearing first, and then a teary-eyed face and dark hair.

My heart beats wildly within my chest.

Oh, Gods, Oscar. He’s here.

I grab Darius more tightly, my nails digging into him as I place another hand to my mouth, swallowing the cry I want to release.

“Josh, look.”I see him following my gaze, but I don’t move my eyes from the cell.
