“I know you can,” he replies. “But you shouldn’t have to.”

“And who is this?”

The voice swirls around in my head as image after image flashes through my mind.

But the images are all warped, all wrong and ping pong around like an alternative reality.

What is real and what isn’t?

What is true and what is false?

I grit my teeth and my back arches, a scream coming from me.

Axis growls within, wanting to rally to the surface but I’m quickly injected with something that makes him go quiet.

This always hurts.

Always, always, always.

Pain hits my cheek and I blink my bleary eyes open as my body relaxes for a moment, the pain dwindling.

“Who do you see?” the voice says again, dark eyes peering into mine.

“Her,” I croak out.

“And where will she be?”

I shake my head, not wanting them to know where she could be. Some part of me wants to keep it a secret, to not let them know of our home.

It feels like a betrayal if I disclose where we live, where the people I love reside. I can’t tell them, I can’t.

“Again,” the voice demands and that pain is back again, digging into my brain and making itself a home there.

My arms and legs tense against the rope that binds me, and my head thrashes side to side as something scrapes down both of my arms.

A blonde-haired woman appears in my mind, covered in blood and a cruel smirk upon her face.

“She hurt you, killed who you loved.”

Who?

“She made you suffer?”

How?

“She is your enemy.”

Then why doyoufeel like the enemy?

“Why isn’t this working?” the male growls and a blonde-haired male responds.

“He is fighting it.”

“Then make him weak!”
