I sit back on the bench and shrug.“You are always watching me.”

“Absolutely. Now, why are you smiling.”

“Just remembering how Leo punched you.”

He growls.

“Are you two mind-fucking again?” Josh asks, and I look at him, Sarah nestled and heavily pregnant at his side.

“Maybe,” I say, just to fuck with him.

He shakes his head, but he's smiling, placing a kiss on Sarah's forehead and rubbing her belly.

“Where’s Kade?”

“By the river with Sam,” Hudson says as he arrives, a very red-faced Colten in tow and I take a drink to hide my smile, side-eying Josh who buries his face in Sarah's neck to hide his own grin.

“They are ridiculous.”

“I know.”

I don’t know why they try to hide it, but I'm sure they will tell us when they are ready.

I think it has more to do with Colten being hesitant, but for what, I'm not sure.

All I know is that Hudson will take care of him.

“Are you and Sam coming for dinner?”I ask Kadedown the link.

“She is playing with the butterflies right now, but I’ll ask her.”

“Okay, be safe.”

“I will, mom.”

I smile at that, taking another drink.

Kade is doing better, but is not fully healed from his time with the Highers. His outbursts still happen, and he still spars withDarius, but I think because he’s busy focusing on Sam, it helps keep him grounded.

He hasn’t left her side since he got back, and Sam still barely speaks. We can only hope time will heal her, but we all know time doesn’t always heal all wounds.

And that’s okay.

We will be here, regardless, waiting for her to open up and tell us her own story.

Asquawkhas me lifting my head and I sit back, waiting until Illium lands on top of my thighs. “Hello, sweet boy.” He squawks, and I scratch him under the chin and take the letter.

“Goodbye, go on over to Darius and I'm sure he will give you a treat.”

He does just that and without thinking, Darius goes into his pocket pulling out a dried bit of meat giving it to Illium as he perches on his shoulder.

I huff out a laugh and read through Edwards’s letter.

With him now one of the ruling authorities over the people of Vrohkaria, along with the new council which Darius and I are on, balance is now restored to the lands.

We are living as we always should have.

“What is it?” Darius asks, as he comes to sit down next to me.
