I barge through the door and into the courtyard, hearing the battle ahead of us.

“Rhea?”I shout down the link. It’s open now, but she’s not answering.“Rhea?”I try again.

Guards line the battlements, archers notching their arrows, and witches wait behind the gates, getting ready to either attack those on the outside, or defend.

I sent Elites to watch over Rhea, to help her in any way, but as the battle still rages on, I don’t understand why they haven’t ported out.

“Attack from the back, get to the gates and open them.”I say to my brothers down the link.

They all make affirmative sounds and then, we strike.

They never see us coming from behind, never thought an enemy could be at their back.

But it’s more than just an enemy, there is a pissed off Heir who cannot find his Vihnarn.

I grab the first guard I can get to as he turns, gripping his throat and slamming him to the ground. He cries out, causingothers to turn at the disturbance, but I’m already bashing his head in with my boot.

Dead.

I bring my blade up and arch it, slashing through another that tries to help his friend, but he falters when he sees who it is.

“Elites!” someone shouts in the gathered crowd, and that sets everyone on high alert.

I catch another guard in the stomach, an arrow whizzing past me as it lands in the eye of another.

“Rhea. Answer me.”Still nothing.

Fuck, fuck.

I put my palms to the floor, calling my powers and a rolling, dark mist appears, intertwining with the front line of the guards. They wobble where they stand, eyes rolling into the back of their heads as they try to shake off my power.

But instead they drop, unconscious.

Jerrod is there with his axe, chopping them into pieces as I spot a witch trying to counter my magic, a green-like hue battling with my black.

I pick up a sword, twirl it in my hand and then send it soaring into her hooded face.

Her arms flail, and then she too drops.

A blow to my cheek has my head snapping to the side, blood coating my teeth but I move with the movement, turning and sending my own punch back. I hear the crunch of bone as I connect with the male’s face, and he crumples to the floor as I form a shard and send it into his neck.

I grin.

It’s feral.

It’s mean.

It’s fury.

I growl and go into another group of guards as they turn, their eyes widening at my impending assault. I attack first, bringingmy blade up and blocking an attack while my magic goes to my back, protecting it like a shield as I dodge and spin, aiming for deadly points of the body to kill those who even dare lift a sword to me.

“Traitor,” one spits.

“No,” I say, grabbing him by his armor and hauling him to me, my blade shoving into his side. “Heir.”

I let my dominance fill the space, scanning the area as some falter under the weight of it. I lift my hand, palm up, then I send five shards outward into the fray, hitting two guards as a knife lands in the other’s head.

Zaide is near.
