“Seb!” I shout for him, but he doesn’t hear me over the bloodbath that’s happening around him. “Sebastion!” His head turns slowly in my direction. “Watch out!”
I watch in horror as the guard behind him raises his sword, his stance ready to thrust forward and just as I’m pushing another male out the way, lifting my opposite hand to gather my power, Seb fully turns toward me. His brows furrow in concern at the sounds of my voice, and when he spots me, our eyes clashing, the guard thrusts his sword right through his chest.
“No!” The scream tears through my throat as Seb looks down, looking at the sword sticking out of his chest as he wavers on his feet.
His eyes move back up to mine as the guard withdraws his sword, Seb’s body jostling with the movement, eyes connecting with mine as villagers tackle the guard to the ground.
“No, no, Seb.” I reach him as he falls forward, and I grab him as we collapse to the ground on my knees, cradling him in myarms. “Oh Gods, Seb,” I say frantically and I place a hand on his, pushing my power into him. “Vallier, vallier, vallier,” I chant.
Please Zahariss, please.
Seb gurgles, blood splattering from his mouth and I turn him gently, tears dripping down my cheeks as I lay him in the snow, both of my hands on his chest now as I pour my power into him.
“Come on, come on.” Seb looks up at me, blinking as snowflakes fall and I watch the white beneath us turn red.
I push more power, feeling the tear inside of him, the bleeding, and a sob bursts from my throat.
“No,” I whimper, and Seb slowly lifts his hand and places it on mine that’s on his chest, coughing up blood as the fight wears on around us.“Josh!”I cry down the link.
“I had a good run, Alpha,” he croaks, and I cry down at him, my fingers gripping his hand.
“I can fix it, I can, I know I can,” I say, trying to repair the damage, but I can’t fix this.“Josh, Darius, please, help me!”
“I’m coming!”Josh replies frantically.
“It…went through my heart. There is…no use.” I shake my head, denying it. “I’m sorry.”
“No,” I growl down at him, and he tries to give me a smirk. “There is nothing for you to be sorry about, Seb. Just, don’t go.”
He coughs again, and his eyes dim a little. “Thank you for letting me live out the rest of my days with a…a…family.”
“Don’t thank me for that, you were always meant to be with us, always meant to teach me how to throw a knife, always making jokes.”
He nods, a small smile on his bloodied face. “I get to see her now…you know,” he whispers, and he looks up to the sky. “I get…to see my mate. So don’t be—” He coughs, nearly choking on his own blood and I lift my hands to put them under his head, to try and help him. “Don’t be sad. I…I will see you in another…another…”
“Seb,” I whisper, my heart stalling as his head lulls to the side. “Seb,” I whimper, shaking him a little, cradling him closer to me.
I stare down at his face, running a hand through his hair as I wait for his reply…But unseeing eyes stare back, and when his essence starts to float up into the air, the finality of his silence, I clutch him to my chest tighter, crying into his hair as his hand falls limply to his side.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.” I say as I rock him back and forth. “We will meet at another time, and you can joke with me all you want.” Sniffling, I lay him down gently, while placing a kiss on his forehead and running my hand over his eyes, closing them. “Rest well with your mate.”
“Rhea, what?…No.” Josh comes to my side, his knees giving way as his bloodied hands go to Seb’s chest.
Colten arrives next, Hudson at his side and he grips his shoulders as they shake. Then Taylor is there with Anna, all of us looking down upon our beloved pack member who is no more.
I grasp Seb’s hand in mine, bringing it up to my lips to place a kiss there as I close my eyes and let rage consume me.
Let heartbreak eat at me.
Let grief fuel me.
When I hear a rogure coming toward us, I don’t even look as I lift my hand and send my power straight for it. I’m not really aware of when I picked up a sword off the ground, and start hacking into a guard like I’m chopping wood.
All I know is that they will all pay.
