“Gods,” I say, rubbing my elbow but rushing to my feet. “Get up,” I demand, “Do you want to die?”
“Of course not,” the male growls, gripping my arm and then managing to get his leg under him.
“Then we need to move! I need to help the others protect this place.”
More howls, and my heart beats in time with our steps as we move toward my cabin.
They cannot get in here, but all we have are protection crystals.
“Josh, update?”
“I have most of them,”he replies down the link. “Anna and Seb are rounding up some to the west, while Taylor guards those already inside. Hudson and Colten said they are going through each cabin to grab anyone left.”
I grunt as I hold more of the male’s weight.“Kade?”
“Looking for Sam,”he says in a rush. I pause at that.
“Where would she be?!”She needs to be home.
“Probably at the river. Kade told me she has been going there a lot lately,”he says.
But she barely went to the river before she was taken…
“Okay. Just let me know if he’s not back soon. His link is closed right now.”I shuffle down the dirt path to my home, the male bleeding from somewhere, but I haven’t got time to inspect it.
Runa is alert inside of me, her teeth already bared to the danger she knows is coming. We are one this time, and we will not let those creatures hurt our family.
She growls low in agreement.
I push the door open to the cabin and Taylor is there, relieving me of the male.
“You okay?” he asks, and I nod my head, touching his arm in thanks.
My home is overrun by the injured and my pack. Katy and Oscar sit near the wall, huddling together tightly as Sybill looks after some of the pups, while their mom’s help the injured.
“I’m going to go back out and help,” I tell Taylor. “Eliza, grab the furs in our rooms if you have to,” I tell her, and she nods.
“I can come,” Taylor says, propping the male up against the wall.
I shake my head. “I need you to defend here in case any rogures get through. Kade and Sam should be here soon and then I need you to port out with them to Colhelm. I thinkDamian is coming here so he can take you to the location. I trust you to keep them safe.”
He looks around, eyes conflicted. “An order?”
“No,” I say, “But it can be.”
He knows I never want to pull rank, but I will.
He chuckles. “I got them.” He tilts his head to the door. “Be safe.”
“Arbiel canna.”
“Arbiel canna,” he repeats.
I head back down the dirt path, looking for anyone else who may not know what’s going on. The howls can definitely be heard here now, but they may not know where to go.
I spot Hudson and Colten coming around a cabin, five people in tow. “Do you see anyone else?”
“We didn’t see anyone,” Colten says.
