He of course told me I was insane, and he refused to at first. It wasn’t until he found me one night with more blood covering the floor than he had ever seen, that he finally agreed to do it, saying at least he could make sure I don’t bleed out.

I wasn’t going to bleed out, that wasn’t part of my punishment.

From then on, Leo would come when asked, and he would whip me as I directed. In the same places I did to Rhea.

To give me my punishment.

To show my regret.

The scars, a stark reminder of my worst mistake.

They would be marked upon my skin for eternity, and I would walk the lands in constant pain as a reminder.

And now she knows.

My little wolf was never meant to find out about this. Her heart is too soft, she would forgive me just to stop me from hurting myself because her heart is pure, and she hates others in pain.

I told her I don’t want her forgiveness, that I don’t, and never will, deserve it, but in the face of it, she would give it to me.

Her heart is her greatest weakness, but I will be her strength and refuse any forgiveness she offers me.

I will be that for her for the rest of our lives together, no matter how short that may be.

A lifetime isn’t enough to be in her presence, isn’t enough to sate my craving for her.

The Alpha of the Elites fell into her eyes, and he was captured at first glance.

And he will happily stay there.

He just has to make her leave this basement so her heart won’t soften to the asshole who can’t even turn around and face her.

He has to make her leave so he can continue what she interrupted.

He has to continue his punishment for the wrongs he committed against her.

He has to stop his soul from breaking underneath the weight of his crime every time he looks at her.

Sometimes, when you feel pain, it can make you unable to catch your breath. Sometimes, it causesyoupain, and you have to rub your chest to try and make it better. Other times… it can be enough to bring you to your knees.

Like now.

I hear Leo get up off the floor from where I sent him crashing into it, but I can’t move my eyes to him, my single focus is on Darius. His back is torn to shreds, and there is blood everywhere.

And still, he sits there, his back to me, head bowed.

What has he done…

“Rhea.” The hesitant voice hits me next.

I hold my hand up to stop Leo from talking further. “What is going on?” I ask.

My throat feels dry, my limbs shaky as I continue to stare at Darius’s bloody back.

“He…” Leo sighs when Darius growls at him. “Darius will tell you. I did what I thought was best… I didn’t want…” he trails off and sighs again, his voice tired. “I didn’t want to hurt him.” Heclears his throat, and I can sense the sadness coming off of him, but I can’t look at him.
