“I haven’t seen much beauty,” she says sadly, and Josh makes a sound in the back of his throat.

Apart from Eridian, I hadn’t either, But then my mind goes to the field of flowers Darius made me and I think…it doesn’t matter.

“Beauty can be found,” I tell her, a gentle smile on my face. “It can also be made. Given.” I tilt my head in thought. “Created.”

She looks at me for a moment and grins. “You’re right. I just need a certain male to make something for me.”

“I made you a drawing the other day!” Josh protests, coming to stand behind her, hands on her waist.

“Oh, was that what it was?” His mouth drops open. “I couldn’t tell!”

“You little—”

“I am trying to rest up here,” Edward croaks from the bed he’s in.

I raise a brow. “You were pretending to sleep to hear gossip.”

His eyes open, and though they are full of pain, they are filled with mirth. “Maybe.”

I smile and place the book down, dragging my chair to his side. “You okay?” I ask as Sarah hands him some water.

“I’m okay.” He pats my hand that’s covered in healing bruises and I frown.

We wolves always had better healing, but Edward is much older, and with that, our healing slows.

“Reading anything good?” He nods to the book.

“Just how the lands were formed. Belldame told me that we needed to go to the plane of the Gods, and I figured I had nothing else to do at the moment so why not see if I can find anything more.”

“Ah, the Gods.” He sits up more, coughing as he does. I watch on with worry. “The Gods always loved creating things. It’s why Heirs exist.” I smile at that. “They enjoyed Zakith, it was the last place they were.”

It isn’t lost on me that it happens to be my home.

“I don’t remember anything there that could possibly be the plane of the Gods.”

Edwards smiles, his eyes crinkling. “They wouldn’t have made it easy, however much has been lost over the years.” I nod. “What else did Belldame say? She is the Blood witch?”

“Don’t be saying anything bad about my Grandmother or I won’t heal you,” Anna says as she comes into the room with a bowl in her hands.

“I would never. I respect her too much for that,” Edward says, his eyes conveying more than he wants to say.

Hmm. We have a few who do that around here.

A commotion sounds from outside the room, then footsteps running, words and then shouting.

“Get them down on the ground and make sure they don’t move.”

Leo?

“What is going on?!” I get to my feet, rushing for the door. I swing it open, uncaring as it bounces off the wall while I watch as man after man is ported into Eridian. “What…”

“Oh my Gods,” Sarah says behind me.

A scream comes from a male further ahead, his leg resting at an odd angle and I seem to come out of my frozen state and move.

“Josh, grab hot towels and cloths.” I look over some wounds as more arrive. “Then start a fire, we need to cauterize some wounds. Sarah,” I start, and she blinks at me. “Bowls…no. Buckets of clean water, ask for help to gather it at the river. We need as many as you can get!” She blinks at me. “Can you do that?”

“Yes,” she says quietly, but then she straightens her spine. “Yes!”
