My body is jostled, a rumble of panicked words, movement. I’m rocked in the cage of arms that I have been waiting to be heldin at last, as it feels like he’s running. No, the wolf is running beneath us.

“Rhea.”

Darius.

“Open your eyes.”

I can’t.

“Fuck, stay with me.”

I am. I’m finally here.

“Just, hold on.”

You’re holding me.

“Wake up.”

I’m so tired.

“We are nearly there.”

Where?

“Little wolf.”

Just let me rest.

“Show me those pretty eyes of yours.”

Soon.

“I’ve got you.”

I know you do, but panic grips me and I must make a sound of distress, because in the next moment, I’m being shushed and caressed and told that everything will be okay.

Then I hear more voices, another growl, the grip on me tightening and then coldness is all that’s left.

And then everything goes dark.

Sixteen Years Old

“So stupid,” I grumble as I walk out of the Alpha’s home at the Aragnis pack. I slam the door behind me, letting my father know just how I feel about being left out, once again, with their meeting.

Alpha Derrik wanted me to stay, but my father said I was too young to understand what they were talking about. I scoff to myself and head toward the trees at the back of the home.
