Flanking her, I stare down into her eyes like she hung the fucking moon, because today, last night… hell, every day since I saw her standing right here in this very doorway, glaring at me with a look that could kill and a stick wedged firmly up her ass, Fran Keller has helped bring a little light to the darkness that’s surrounded me for far too long.

Fran gapes up at me, her perfect pink lips parted to make way for a breath. Her eyes are wide, frantically flitting between mine, lust and something else gleaming in her gaze.

“I need to tell yousomething,” I murmur, leaning down to breathe her in, kissing the hot spot at the base of her neck and reveling in the way that, with just one sweep of my tongue, her body shivers.

“What is it?” She practically pants, her hand pressed against my chest, fisting my sweatshirt in an attempt to hold me back while still keeping me close.

I pull back, gauging her as I say, “I lied to you.”

Her eyebrows draw together as she studies me like she’s trying to make sense of my words, and when I witness a flicker of disappointment in her gaze, I know I need to clarify quickly. “That night in my hotel room—” I search her eyes, watching her pretty head work overtime. “When you tried to kiss me?”

As if she suddenly remembers, she throws her head back. “Ugh. Please don’t remind me.”

I chuckle, cupping her face with both my hands and forcing her eyes on mine. She tries to glare at me, but there’s no malice whatsoever.

“I lied,” I whisper, pecking a kiss to the very tip of her perfect nose.

“What do you mean, you?—”

“It was me,” I interject, staring at her.

She looks at me for a long moment, blinking once.

“Itried to kissyou.”

After a few long seconds of silence, a smile blooms over her face, and she playfully smacks my chest. “Are you serious right now?”

I nod sheepishly.

“Youasshole!” She huffs an incredulous laugh, smacking me again. “I was mortified. I can’t believe you—” She stops then, studying me closely as if she’s just realized something, one of her eyes narrowing dubiously. And suddenly I’m nervous.

“So, let me get this straight.” She taps her chin as if in mock consideration. “First of all, youliedto keep me there. Against my will.”

“Bit dramatic, but okay,” I mutter.

Ignoring me, she continues. “Thenyoutried to kissmeand led me to believe it was me all along…” She arches a brow.

I roll my eyes because she makes it sound so sordid.

“Youloveme,” she teases.

Watching her closely, I chuckle lowly again, considering myself. I know she’s just playing, but what’s the point in denying it? Planting my hands against the wall on either side of her head, I lean in, grin lingering. “Fuck yeah, I do.”

She sucks in a breath, her smile faltering. She stares at me again, only this time she’s looking at me like she can’t believe I just said that. And frankly, neither can I. But I did. And despite the obvious trepidation in her eyes, there’s no way I’m taking it back. Because it’s the truth. And I refuse to lie to this woman. Never again.

“Did you—” She swallows hard, her gaze flitting from my eyes, down to my lips, and back again. “Did you just say…”

I wait for her to get her words out, but she’s clearly having difficulty. My smile lingers, and sure, I could let her suffer a little while longer, but my dick has been painfully hard for the best part of the last forty minutes, and right now, I just need to be inside the woman I love.

“Yes, Keller,” I say, closing the sliver of distance between us, grinding against her so she can feel just how much I want her, my lips ghosting the corner of her gaping mouth. “I did.”

“Robbie,” is all she says, her voice barely a whisper.

I shake my head. “Don’t say it.” I press a kiss against the sensitive skin just beneath her ear. “I didn’t say it just so you would say it back.” I pull away so I can meet her gaze again, staring into her eyes. “I know how you feel. And it’s enough.”

She blinks, opening her mouth probably to object because, above anything else, Fran Keller will never not be a mouthy brat. With a grin, I place a finger against her lips, silencing her, and after a moment, she nods once.

“Now,” I say, dragging my finger from her lips, down her chin, allowing it to fall to her chest that’s heaving with her breaths. Trailing it into the opening of her shirt, I trace between her breasts, smirking when I see goosebumps come alive all over her skin. “I need you, baby.”
