Like…were we dating now?

Was I dating Otto, Ace, and Huxley all at once?

Could he actually keep me safe from vampires?

I tried to ignore King’s warning all day. But now that I was at home, I found myself Googling supernatural creatures. Angels, centaurs, demons, devils, dragons, fairies, ghosts…the list was endless. But there was one common thread. Most of them were really, really bad. And I had a feeling that whatever supernatural creatures appeared once a vampire moved to town wouldn’t be angels.

I clicked on an article about Dracula and scanned it.What the hell?He wasn’t even a vampire. He was just a guy who loved impaling people. Why did he impale people up their butthole? It seemed entirely unnecessary. Was Vlad just really into butt stuff? I personally wasn’t, so to me impaling people was probably worse than sucking blood.

Gah, what was I doing?

I did not need to do more research and freak myself out even more. What I needed was to talk to Elias. Hewas supposed to be doing all this research for me. If I was lucky, he’d even have a PowerPoint presentation. He’d done that one time for me when he was trying to teach me the cons of eating too much potassium every night. Hopefully this presentation would be more enlightening. Because I hadn’t taken his potassium concerns seriously. Although if my heart ever started racing and I threw up everywhere, I now knew the cause.

I pulled on my wig and bunny mask. I lowered the robe around my shoulders to reveal my push-up bra. But I immediately pulled it back up. Ace had bitten down on my shoulder yesterday as he came. And I had a bite mark on my shoulder. It was really hot, but I didn’t think my clients would think so.

Not that I was really worried about them tonight. I turned on all my lights, mics, and computers. But I didn’t bother to adjust the angles or get into a super sexy position on my bed. I was a woman on a mission. I entered my livestream.

And I waited.

And waited.

But Elias was a no show.Again.At first I was annoyed. But the longer I waited…I was starting to get worried about him.

I clicked into a private session with Grudge.

“What’s up?” Grudge said with his mouth full. He was finishing off a burrito. He licked his thumb and then downed one of the energy drinks on his desk.

“Are you done?”

“If I want to pay you to watch me eat…isn’t that a win for you?”

I laughed. “Honestly, yes. But I have another favor to ask.”

“You decided to move in after all? I knew you would. Check this out.” He reached off screen and pulled another chair into the frame. “I have a chair for you and everything.”

“I’m not moving in with you.”

“But I have a sick view.”

“Of what?” Grudge had enough money to afford a really nice place. But he didn’t seem like the beach type. He was much too pale. Maybe he was in the mountains? Although he didn’t look outdoorsy either…

He gestured to himself. “Me. I’m the view, hot stuff. You’re going to want to see me in person.”

I laughed. “Tempting.”

“I know, right? So how’s the vampire issue? I see you’re still alive, so that’s good.”

“And you already knew I was alive because you’re spying on me.”

He shrugged. “Speaking of which…did you have a visitor last night? I heard the TV on and some muffled voices. But it was hard to make out what you were saying over the TV.”

“Stop listening to me.”

“What?” he said and adjusted his headphones. “I gotta get a new pair of these. They keep cutting out.”

I rolled my eyes. “I’ll let you keep listening and watching, but you owe me a million favors.”

“I’m listening now.”
