Cash sent a text to Stone.

Can I get Real’s cell number?

Sure.

Stone’s response was immediate, followed by Real’s number.

Cash deleted Stone’s text and quickly dialed, but it wasn’t the number Stone had given him.

He dialed two digits off.

Phone numbers were traceable and he didn’t want whatever this shit was blowing back on Real.

Not until they were prepared. Then? All bets were off.

This motherfucker was going to pay with his life.

“He should answer in a minute,” Cash said hoarsely, handing the phone to the asshole before turning back to Apollo who had grown very still.

Cash placed his ear to Apollo’s chest, uncaring that his hair became caked with the other boy’s blood.

Apollo took a thin gasp of air, struggling to breathe, and blood still dripped from his mouth. It sounded like the bullet had pierced a lung.

Cash’s hands shook. If he lost Apollo, he wouldn’t be able to go on.

“Hello, Real? I have a score to settle with you,” the gunman said into the phone.

The tone of the gunman’s voice sent the hair lifting on the back of Cash’s neck.

The gunman was talking to a stranger that wasn’t Real and Cash wondered how much time he had before the fucker figured it out.

Seconds, probably.

Ready to die, Cash gazed down at Apollo and whispered.

“I love you.”

Apollo’s hand was locked around his arm.

Cash tossed a quick glance over his shoulder. The asshole hadslightlyturned his back on him.

It was enough of a mistake to give Cash an edge and he would make sure to make the fucker paid even if he went out in a blaze of glory.

Cash launched across the distance and he fisted his hand in the shaggy red-haired head…

Just as a pounding started on the dorm room’s door.

The asshole hit him hard with the gun and Cash went down taking hairs with him.

“Security! Open up!”

The door crashed open.

Snick.

The silencer went off.

Roughly two hours later…
