“Jesus Christ, woman.”
I know it's her and while I agreed to be her man of honor, I also want to pretend she isn’t at the door. As I shut my eyes, getting back into that really good sleep, my eyes pop open as I realize that she has a key to my place. It's for emergencies but Tracie can’t tell the difference lately.
Before I can get out of my bed, Tracie is already inside, and I can hear her as she chitchats on the phone.
“You’re still in bed!” she shrieks as she enters my bedroom without knocking.
Folding my arms behind my head and using it as a pillow, I stare at the ceiling.
“I’m naked under the covers.”
“I don’t care. You’re not ready.” She thinks I’m joking but I’m not and she should know that.
She walked in on me before when we still lived together, and our parents were married. Granted, I wasn’t sleeping but fucking and she regretted it ever since. Her exact words were, ‘why did I need to see your pasty white ass for?’and my response was to tell her to shut my fucking door.
Yet, here she is, not learning her lesson.
“I’m beginning to think you want to catch me naked.” I tease her knowing she doesn’t see me in that way, but it is funny to see her expression.
She makes a face and rolls her eyes.
“I’ll be in the kitchen. Let’s go.”
“Yeah, yeah.”

After getting dressed, I forego my contacts and put on my gold-rimmed glasses before meeting Tracie in the kitchen.
When I get to the kitchen, Tracie is leaning against the counter as she sips her coffee while scrolling on her phone.
“Your coffee is right there.” She points to a hot cup of coffee that has steam coming out of it which means she just made it.
“Thank you. Now, why are you rushing me to leave? Even though you didn’t have to show up here?”
Tracie looks up from her phone and smiles at me.
“We have to meet up with Vic’s sister since she didn’t get the chance to be involved. He feels bad and wants to treat her to breakfast while Mimi is out with Paxy. You guys will get the chance to go do a last-minute cake-tasting and after Vic and I talked last night, we want to ask her to be part of the wedding party.”
My brow arches as I sip my coffee.
“Why wasn’t she part of the wedding party to begin with?”
“She was busy.”
I nod because that is something that is possible.
“Makes sense. Did you two ask her or you just assumed?”
Tracie places her coffee cup down and crosses her arms over her chest.
“What is that supposed to mean? Are you accusing me of something because you don’t even know her at all. Just because you’re thinking with your dick and how pretty she is, doesn’t mean that you need to defend her. She’s not as innocent as she seems.”
This doesn’t make any sense and it makes me laugh hard.
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
“I see the way you looked at her from the second you walked in.”
