“You like my brother or something, sweet Carmi?” Mars' voice stole my attention from Ares, who seemed to smile more with Jennifer than I’d seen him smile in the last 24 hours.

“No.”

I wasn’t lying. I don’t know if I liked Ares, so for now, it was a no-plus; I’ve wanted Mars longer than I’ve wanted Ares, and that should count for something.

“Are you sure about that?” He teased. “You look like you want more than just his attention.”

At this, I chuckled. I’ve wanted attention but not from that brother.

“Nope. Let’s keep dancing.” Was all I could offer as I turned away from Jennifer and Ares as she walked in closer to his open legs.

He’s not my boyfriend, and he could sleep with whomever he pleased as long as he didn’t sleep with me again. I don't particularly appreciate sharing much, so I won’t pretend to be that girl who is cool about it but secretly crying in a corner.

I’ve learned my lesson with my ex, Harry.

After our dance, Mars offered to get my drink for me, but I needed a moment. I needed space because both brothers were driving me into a frenzy.

I don’t know what was in the Wolfgang pool, but I wanted nothing to do with it.

Once I got to the bar, the new young and very attractive bartender gave me a smile that would have melted my panties if I were up for it, but I’m alright.

That’s because you’ve gotten some good sex already…

My brain answered for me, and I rolled my eyes at it.

The DJ seemed to play all the good older songs that got my body moving as I waited for my drink. Kelis’s Bossy played, and my body moved side to side, bringing a good memory of a song that my cousins would sing along with me.

I miss them, and now, I’m too ashamed to even reach out, especially since I’ve gotten duped by my mother as well.

When my drink was delivered, Fergie’s London Bridge began playing. I grabbed my glass and walked back toward my friends. For half of the song, I get stuck on the dance floor, not caring about a single soul, while I sing along with Fergie knowing the entire piece.

I tended to sing along with my hand as if I was rapping along to the song. Monica always laughed at me, asking me if I wanted to be a performer with how I would perform the song. She said it got worse with the more drinks in my system.

I felt a delicate hand on my wrist, and I made eye contact with Lily. She was smiling hard, meaning she and Monica bet on how long it would take one of them to reel me back to the table.

“We are considering grabbing some grub and returning to Damon and Mars’s place. Wanna come?”

“Yeah, sure. My feet are killing me.”

“So why are you dancing?” Lily teased.

“Because I was giving Ares and Jennifer space so that they could, you know, hook up or whatever. Just because we fucked doesn’t mean I must be in his business.”

Lily threw her head back, laughing hard.

“Baby, he must have good dick if you’re acting like he needs space.”

“My God, Lily, I thought I would die from the strokes alone.”I stopped us before we got to the table. “He fucks like a fucking pornstar,” I whispered in her ear.

Lily does a little dance with a smirk on her face.

“Crushing on one brother and fucking the other. I want your life.” Lily sighed, which made me laugh as we continued to the table.

Jennifer was still talking to Ares about whatever the fuck. As we got ready to leave, I let everyone go ahead of me so that I could speak to Ares. Grabbing his wrist, I stopped him.

“Hey, we might need a word or a heads-up text for when we have someone over, and we need the space. Do you need me to give you the time with Jennifer? I can crash on your brother’s couch until you tell me when to come up.”

Ares smirked as if amused by my words.
