Not even two minutes pass and Mikonos comes in through the poolside door. Karessa’s eyes widen. “How did he hear you when he’s not in the house?”
Mikonos smirks as he steps in wearing linen pants, a linen dress shirt, and his hair in a messy bun. This fucker went out and got some, I can tell by the smirk on his face. He winks at me and I roll my eyes. “I hear everything, sweet baby.”
Karessa clears her throat. She chugs her margarita and I try not to laugh. “Don’t worry. Mikonos doesn’t really listen. He just checks in and out.”
Mikonos places his bare foot on a stool and lifts his leg, pulling out a couple of small throwing knives. He sets his foot back on the floor. He lifts his linen shirt up, pulling out more knives that are secured there. He places them on the counter. Karessa looks at him and then at me. “Do you carry them too?” she asks.
“Always.”
Karessa looks me over. “Where?”
“Well, all my shoes have a built-in place for the daggers. I don’t need many. There’s a hidden compartment in my small purses for them. Another is in my phone case.”
Karessa nods her head slowly. “Okay, but what about now? Where are they?”
“Ah…” I reach under the counter, pulling out two more small throwing knives. “Some are in the fridge. My room, in the bedding, in the living room, in the couch, so many places.”
“Wow.”
I nod. “Come on, let's get this show on the road.” Once we get outside, Mikonos goes to stand on the other side of the grass. He smirks as I notice the bowl of fruits he snagged from the kitchen. He places it on the floor and picks up an apple. I hold three small knives in my hand.
“Ainslee… Where’s the target?” Karessa asks.
I smile. “Right there,” I say and throw the first dagger. I catch the other side of the apple that Mikonos is eating.
Mikonos cocks his brow at me, but smiles. He takes a bite of the apple and continues to munch like it’s nothing. I can see the look Karessa is giving us. Before Mikonos can take another bite, I throw one knife after the other, landing them in the same spot.
“Holy shit!” Karessa claps her hands. I take a bow. “Hold on! I want proof for my sisters!” Karessa runs back in the house while I go grab my drink, telling Mikonos not to move. I turn the music on to my 2000s and up hip hop music.
The first song that comes on is Jay-Z’s I Just Wanna Love U. I bring my mojito outside as I rap the song, it's one of my favorites. Mikonos is rapping along too, as he texts on his phone. Karessa comes outside, ready to go. I pick up the other small knives, placing them in my pocket. “Ready?” I ask her.
“Yeah. What about Mikonos?” she asks.
Mikonos continues to text with one hand as he holds up an orange in his hand this time. He doesn’t even bother to look up. He mouths the chorus and I give Karessa the go ahead. I drink my mojito as I throw the first one and I don’t stop downing my drink until the other two are in the same spot. Karessa laughs and my favorite song on the whole playlist comes on. Excuse Me Miss by Jay-Z. “Ainslee, girl where the hell have you been hiding all this talent?”
“Whatever do you mean?” I laugh with her. “Swim?”
“Hell yeah! But seriously, you have to teach me.”
“By the end of this honeymoon, you’ll be able to throw a dagger at Jagger.”
“Dagger, Jagger…” Karessa laughs. “Jagger the Dagger.”
“Oh,” I chuckle, shaking my head. “You’re so gone, aren’t you? Sheesh. Jagger got you wrapped around his dagger.”
Karessa shakes her head, trying not to laugh. “You are not right.”
ORAN
“How long are you guys here for?” the blonde asks me. I look at her and I know my right brow moves of its own accord. It always does. I don’t respond, but I guess she likes the silent type because she keeps talking.
Jagger snickers and I look at him. “What’s so funny?”
“The murderous look your wife is giving you right now is what’s funny.”
I look in the direction that Jagger is looking. Ainslee has her arms crossed over her chest as she gives the blonde the dirtiest look I’ve ever seen.
“You texted Karessa, didn’t you?” I accuse him.
