“You know what I want to eat but you said I had to be good. Haven’t I been good, Lil’ darlin’?”
My eyes widened yet at the same time, my body was on fire.
“You’ve been so good, Bubba.”
“Carson.” He corrected me.
I smiled,
“Carson. Now, let’s go get you some dinner and then you’ll have dessert.”
Carson smiled. He reached into his back pocket, took his wallet out and dropped some cash on the table. He held my hand in his and we walked out.

We decided to go back to Carson’s house. His dad was out of town again. He was an enforcer for the Irish. He never discussed what he did with us because well it wasn’t our business, but I knew the things that Carson did. Well, the simple ones he could tell me.
Today was the exception for Carson as we ordered four large pizzas. Three of them were for him and half of one was mine. We sat there in the living room catching up on all the episodes of Daredevil on Netflix. Carson yawned for the third time in the past ten minutes. I didn’t say anything to him at first but when I turned to look at him, he was asleep with his head on my shoulder. I paused the show,
“Babe come on. Let’s get you in bed.”
Carson nodded; he opened his eyes for a minute. We both stood, I took his hand in mine and walked him upstairs to his room. When we got in, I helped him out of his hoodie and jeans since he had already taken his socks and sneakers off earlier.
I should’ve known he was this tired, he couldn’t even keep his eyes open. I moved the bedsheets and got him in.
“I’ll be right back. I’m going to clean up.”
“Okay.” He answered.
I was surprised he still could hear me and hadn’t passed out. I went downstairs to clean up putting away the leftovers and making sure everything was back in its place.
Finishing up, I went upstairs to say goodnight to Carson. When I got in his room, he was knocked out or so I thought. I caressed his face, tracing over his bushy but arched eyebrows. His Greek nose courtesy of his father’s family, an impeccable jaw and lips that I loved to kiss. Carson stirred. I paused not wanting to wake him up. I kissed his forehead lightly, so I didn’t wake him up,
“Goodnight, baby.”
I turned to walk away but then Carson grabbed my wrist. He groaned,
Please don’t go kitty. Stay with me. I’m sorry.”
The tone in his voice tugged at my heart. Why was he apologizing?
“Why are you apologizing babe? You didn’t do anything wrong.”
He opened his eyes; so full of regret and shame.
“My anger gets the best of me; I know and not everyone likes it.”
I sighed and climbed into bed with him. He laid on his back giving me the chance to climb on top of him. I cupped his face,
“Baby look at me. Do you really want me to stay?” I asked softly.
He nodded. This was a side of Carson that I don’t think anyone including myself, had ever seen.
“Yeah, darlin’,” he answered as he gazed into my eyes.
“Okay,” I said. “Don’t ever feel like you’ve got to apologize for having a right to be upset. You had every right and honestly, it was kinda hot, Mr. McDermott.” I winked at him.
“Mmmm, ya think so, darlin’?” His hands came up and gripped my waist.
