There’s a hallway leading to the bedroom, bathroom, and office. In the office there’s a desk and a weight bench. Figures.
“It’s not very exciting,” he says handing me a water. “I just started looking at houses. I want more space.”
“I think it’s nice and spacious,” I say, sitting on the couch. I sink into the soft leather.
“Thanks,” he replies. “I want a yard, which is probably dumb because I’ll never have time to do anything in it.”
“You could make time,” I tell him. “Macy says you work too much anyway.”
He snorts. “That’s funny coming from someone who always has a phone in her face.”
Grant stretches his long arms along the back of the couch.
“Speaking of Macy, I feel so guilty for not telling her about tonight.”
He shrugs. “Don’t worry about her. She’ll be fine.”
I pause and look around his living room.
“Wait. You don’t have a Christmas tree.”
He shakes his head. “Other than to sleep, I’m rarely here. It’s just more work to put up and take down.”
This is so sad.
“Let’s go get one,” I exclaim bouncing up and down.
He throws his head back.
“Please,” I beg, shaking his arm. I pout just like I did earlier in the night.
“It’s not going to work this time,” he declares.
I slide closer to him and bring my lips to his ear. “Please.”
His face turns toward me, making my heart pick up speed. He lifts his finger and traces it along my jaw and over my lips causing me to suck in a breath.
“I’m not kissing you first,” I whisper, already short of breath.
“Okay,” he says bringing his mouth to mine. Our lips are now inches from each other, and I notice his chest rising and falling quickly. Then he smiles and pulls away.
“Ahhh,” I scream. “How do you do that?”
He lays his head against the back of the couch. “It’s not easy, believe me.”
I scowl.
“You thought I was going to give in, didn’t you?” he asks with a laugh.
“Yes.”
I put my hands on his shoulders and move to straddle his lap.
“Oh, now you’re pulling out all your tricks,” he says, putting his hands on my hips.
“Yes, but only because I want you to get a Christmas tree.”
He tightens his arms around me. “So, this is about a tree now, not a kiss.”
