I have so many thoughts swirling around in my head. I’m still not sure what’s happening between Grant and me. A few days ago, I couldn’t stand the man, and now I want to be wrapped in his arms on this couch.

Macy looks crestfallen at the idea that Chad and I may not get together. Ugh. I need to tell her the truth.

“I’m calling it a night,” Austin says, kissing Macy on the top of her head.

“Goodnight, everyone.”

“I’ll be up in a bit, babe,” Macy tells him.

Grant hasn’t moved from his place on the couch.

“I thought you girls were going for a drive,” Grant says.

“I’m actually getting tired too,” I say. “Can we move it to another night?”

Macy nods as she starts to fold blankets and straighten throw pillows. I jump up to help her.

“Are you staying here tonight?” Macy asks Grant. “You should, and then we can have breakfast together tomorrow.”

He twists his mouth to the side. “I’ll think about it.”

She stacks the blankets and carries them to the cabinet.

“The guest room is all ready for you, like always,” she says. “And Whitney we have another guest room if you want to crash here too—it’s late.”

“I’m fine,“ I say quickly.

“My sister loves a good slumber party,” Grant says, a wicked gleam in his eye.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted. However, I don’t think staying under the same roof as Grant is a good idea, especially with how much I enjoyed kissing him.

“It would be fun,” she says.

“Tons of fun,” Grant agrees.

Macy picks up a pillow and hits him with it before going to the kitchen.

“Are you sure you don’t want to stay?” Grant asks after she’s left the room.

“I’m sure.”

“Bummer,” he says. “It sounded like a good idea to me.”

“I bet it did.”

He sits up, rests his elbows on his knees, and clasps his hands.

“Don’t get any ideas,” he says. “I’m a perfect gentleman—most of the time.”

I smile. “I feel like we should tell Macy.”

He shrugs. “Okay, but not tonight.”

“Why?”

He looks toward the kitchen. The water is running in the sink so Macy can’t hear us. “My sister has been through a lot. If we tell her now, she will get all excited and get her hopes up. I don’t want to disappoint her if…” he trails off.

This makes sense, but if not now, when? I hate not being honest with my friend.
