“Maybe I should go with you,” Austin says. “Although I’m not sure I want to stand next to you in front of the mirror.”

“Oh, stop,” Macy says, wrapping her hands around his bicep. She kisses him on the cheek, and I smile. Their relationship is heartwarming.

“You guys are so cute,” I say.

Macy and Austin stare lovingly into each other’s eyes.

After dinner we all gather in the lobby. A brisk gust of air hits us as we walk outside. I pull my coat tighter around me.

I thank Macy and give her a hug, “Thanks again, I’m parked that way,” I say, pointing to my left.

“So am I,” Grant says.

Macy gives Grant instructions to walk me to my car, and I don’t say anything.

We say our good-byes, and suddenly I’m alone with Grant.

“You don’t have to walk me to my car,” I tell him as soon as Macy’s a good distance away. I move quickly in the opposite direction.

Unfortunately, my legs are a lot shorter than his, and he catches up with me immediately.

“Oh no, I don’t need my sister’s wrath,” he says. “If she found out I let you walk to your car alone, she’d never talk to me again.”

“Hmm…sounds like a good plan to me,” I say.

He’s now leisurely walking backwards next to me, while I’m practically out of breath.

“What’s wrong? Sad Chad couldn’t make it tonight?”

He’s so infuriating.

“Don’t you have to get to the gym?” I ask. “I don’t want to keep you.”

He shrugs. “I have plenty of time. I’m only doing five miles.”

“Oh, and that’s probably nothing for you.”

He gives a confident smile. “It’s not too difficult.”

I’m so grateful when I see my car.

“That’s mine,” I say pointing to my black SUV. “It’s been a real pleasure.”

Of course, I don’t mean that, and he knows it.

“Indeed,” he replies shoving his hands into his pockets. “Have a nice evening, Whitney.”

I get in my car, and he waves before turning around and walking back toward the restaurant. I watch as he moves down the street, walking with such an air of confidence. I notice my pulse has picked up speed. It’s probably because I was walking so fast. I’m sure that’s why.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

I’m walking down the street when I hear someone call my name. I turn around and see Grant coming towards me.

“What are you doing here?” I ask.

He moves closer and stops in front of me. I gaze up, and my eyes stare deep into his blue-gray eyes. He reaches down and pushes a strand of hair behind my ear which sends shivers down my spine. What the hell is happening right now?

Neither of us says anything, but I know with every cell in my body I want him to kiss me. I grab onto the lapels of his suit coat and…I gasp as shoot up out of bed.
