She reaches for Erica’s hand, while still holding mine with the other. “Everything’s going to be okay.”

The welcome reception is definitely more laid back than I was expecting. There’s a light buffet and open seating. It really is the perfect event to have after the bombshell that was unleashed earlier this evening. Caroline was able to sneak away with Andy to update him. Of course, he’s not surprised since Christian had already given him the news. I’m sure he’s relieved that he doesn’t have to be the one to tell his new bride what her friend has been up to. Both Caroline and Erica are mingling with big smiles on their faces like nothing has happened, and kudos to them.

Tyler and I haven’t had a chance to talk since we’re both busy greeting guests and fulfilling our wedding party duties. I’m sticking close to Caroline to assist with anything she might need.

When I finally sit down to check my phone, I have a text from my mom letting me know what time they will be arriving tomorrow. After the craziness of the last few weeks, I’m looking really looking forward to seeing them.

“Hey, you,” a voice says in my ear. Tyler’s warm breath causes chills to run up and down my spine. He pulls out a chair and sits next to me. “So, what’s the scoop? Andy says Rachel and Erica had a blowup?”

I nod. “Yep. The secret’s finally out.”

“Is she gone?”

“I’m not sure if she’s left the hotel or not,” I say. “But Caroline was pretty adamant that she leave her room.”

I type a quick response to my mom.

“Are you okay?” he asks, eyeing me curiously.

“Yes,” I reply. “Just sending my mom a message. My parents will be here tomorrow.”

“Cool. I’m looking forward to meeting them.”

I lean my head to the side. “Really?”

“Yes, I plan to tell them how great their daughter is,” he says with a wink.

Just as I’m about to respond, Leslie interrupts. She must have eyes on him at all times.

“I’m sorry, guys,” Leslie says innocently. “Tyler, my dad is dying to chat with you and Clint about high school football.”

Tyler looks at me as if waiting for me to say something.

“Can you give us a few minutes?” he asks.

“Oh, well my parents are getting ready to call it a night,” Leslie says.

“It’s fine,” I tell him.

He frowns. What does he want me to do, beg him to stay? I’m not doing that, and especially not in front of Leslie.

Leslie waits patiently while he finally stands up.

“Clint’s already chatting with Daddy,” she tells him. “Come on.”

Leslie links her arm around his. I let out a deep sigh as I watch them walk away together.

I pick up my phone and send Parker a text.

ChapterTwenty-Two

Since the welcome reception is winding down, I make my escape and head back to my room. I put on my fancy new bridesmaid pajamas and crawl under the fluffy white duvet.

My phone rings as soon as I settle into a rerun ofFriends.
