“Most of the time, but you’ve definitely made me question my abilities,” he says.
“Why, because I haven’t completely fallen for your charm?”
“Oh, is that right?” he asks. “I guess I have more work to do then. Although you haven’t seen me in a tux, heard me give a killer wedding toast, or seen my own rendition of the electric slide. Challenge accepted.”
I laugh. “Good night, Tyler.”
“Sweet dreams, Tori. Hopefully, I’ll be in them.”
I end the call and hold the phone to my chest. Tyler is certainly trying his best to impress me and what he doesn’t know, is that he’s succeeding.

Caroline and Andy’s wedding is in one week, and tensions have soared. Erica is sending text reminders at all hours of the night, and Caroline is calling me with her concerns about both Erica and Rachel. Speaking of Rachel, she’s gone radio silent and hasn’t spoken to anyone except for Caroline. The anticipation of the big day is building, but at least the final dress fittings were a success.
Tyler and I have been texting several times a day, and I’ve been super busy working with Spencer as I transition into my new role at GFP Communications.
“Has Spencer said anything about me?” Parker asks as soon as we sit down in Starbucks. She’s been in a great mood since he admitted to beingimpressedby her.
“Parker, we’ve been kind of busy, you know—working.”
She frowns.
“I’m totally kidding,” I say with giggle. “Of course he has.”
“You’re mean.”
Spencer has been very patient with me as I work through my nerves and get comfortable in my new role. He’s also mastered bringing up Parker by dropping comments casually in conversation. And I know for a fact that they’ve talked a few times outside of the office. Our company doesn’t have any written rules about interoffice dating, but people live for gossip, so I’m sure he’s trying to be as professional as possible.
“He’s so dreamy and wonderful,” she swoons.
I reach for my phone and scroll through the latest texts from Erica. She continues to forward messages from Caroline’s Georgia-based wedding planners. Honestly, we don’t need to know every detail. Clearly, she’s immersing herself in the wedding to keep her attention off her situation, which is very understandable.
“Are you ready for the big day?” Parker asks.
I shrug. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”
“And you get to spend time with Tyler,” she sings.
I try to hide my smile.
“Your cheeks are red,” Parker teases. “I’m guessing that means things are good between you and him.”
I hold my coffee cup with both my hands. “We’ve been chatting and texting a lot.”
“That’s a good thing,” she exclaims. “You’re getting to know each other without all the physical stuff. That will make it so much hotter later. I wish I could go to this wedding and see it all play out.”
“We’ll see,” I say. “I still have to deal with Leslie, and she’s out for blood.”
“Who cares what she thinks!” Parker exclaims. “Tyler likes you, and there’s nothing she can do about it.”
“Leslie already disliked me before I ever met Tyler,” I tell her. “Our, um, friendship added gasoline to the fire.”
“Friendship, sure. Keep trying to convince yourself of that.”
I laugh.
We continue to chat about Spencer and how things will be around the office once he’s gone. My phone buzzes over and over with new text messages on the bridesmaid group. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with all my free time once the wedding is over and there aren’t any more messages.
