I told you I’d text you back.?To answer your question, Andy is freaking out. Never seen him like this.

I type and erase my response three times.

They just have to get through this wedding. I wish there was something we could do to help.

I hit send.

“I knew you’d get the job,” Parker shrieks when she returns. “Are you excited?”

I clench my teeth. “I think so. It feels surreal right now.”

“You’ll fall right into it without missing a beat. Spencer says he has a lot of confidence in you and our office.”

I raise my eyebrows. “How did your little chat go? I made a quick exit to give you two time alone.”

She sighs. “I’m in love.”

I laugh. “Well, you’ll be happy to know that Spencer said he’s very impressed by you.”

Parker pulls her chair over to me and asks for every detail of our conversation. I can tell she’s trying to maintain her composure.

“He told me he’ll be working over on the East Coast after he’s done here,” she whispers. “And he only lives in Tampa, so I think we can make this work.”

“That would be amazing.”

“I mean, we didn’t actually talk about seeing each other, but I have a really good feeling.”

Parker and I pack up and walk out together.

“The next few weeks are going to be interesting,” I say. “I’m not sure how Shannon is going to handle the changes.”

“She’ll be fine,” Parker says. “Once she gets used to reporting to you.”

My phone starts ringing from my bag. I scramble to find it, a part of me thinking it might be Tyler. When I see Caroline’s number, I say good-bye to Parker and head to my car.

“Hello.”

“Hi. Are you free tonight?” she asks immediately.

“Yes—is everything okay?”

“Emergency bridal party meeting,” she says. “We have several important changes to discuss. Andy is calling the guys.”

I admit the first thought that comes to my mind is seeing Tyler. Of course, the most important thing is getting everything squared away for the wedding. I’m assuming the main reason for this meeting is because Christian has officially been relieved of his best man duties.

Caroline tells me to meet at Andy’s house at seven o’clock and rushes off the phone before I have a chance to ask any questions.

Not even a minute goes by before a text from Tyler shows up.

Will I be seeing you at Andy’s tonight?

My stomach flips excitedly.

Yes. I just spoke to Caroline. See you there.

The saga continues. Is it bad that I’m a little excited for this emergency meeting? It’s already been quite a day. For a brief moment, I forget that I just got a promotion. This is what happens when you don’t have your own social life. Other people’s drama creeps in and takes over. I should probably do something about this.
