“Anytime.”
The corner of his mouth curls up, and he leans into me. “I’m holding you to that. We haven’t even left port yet. We have quite a weekend ahead of us. Anything can happen.”
Matt heads back to the bar, and Caroline doesn’t waste any time throwing her arm around my shoulders.
“Tori, you and Matt look good together.”
“They really do,” Erica chimes in. “I can’t believe I didn’t think of this until now.”
“Oh, I did,” Caroline says. “I mean, I told Tori that it would be super romantic if she met someone at my wedding, but this is even better.”
Caroline and Erica start discussing the connection they saw blossoming between Matt and me.
What the hell? All of a sudden these women have gone rogue.
“Okay, calm down,” I demand. “I know you both mean well, but it was just a dance.”
Erica winks at me. “Yes, and you have chemistry with each other. Good chemistry.”
“I agree.” Caroline exclaims.
“What are you whispering about?” Leslie asks, joining us.
Erica doesn’t hold back on telling her about Matt and myundeniablechemistry. She’s so dramatic.
“Oh, you should go for it,” Leslie says. Although I know she has zero interest in me or my personal life.
I sigh. It’s pointless to argue with Caroline, so I force a smile and return to the bar to get my piña colada.
“Did you have fun?” Tyler inquires with a curious smirk.
“Yes,” I say. “Matt’s a great dancer.”
He shrugs. “Well, you haven’t seen me on the dance floor yet.”
“Oh, are you jealous?” I tease.
He gives a slight nod. “Maybe a little. My man Matt is a stud. He always makes a great impression with the ladies.”
I motion over to where Leslie is standing with Caroline and Erica.
“Well, you seem to be getting your share of attention too.”
He gives a noncommittal shrug. “I guess.”
This immediately reminds me that whatever flirty banter Tyler and I have, that’s all it is. I’m not going toe to toe with Leslie for his attention, which is probably what he wants.
All of a sudden, the crew announces that we’re about to sail out. The crowd cheers as the ship’s loud horn begins to sound, announcing the beginning of our journey.
Here we go.
I sit back in my chair as I watch Leslie rejoin Tyler. She puts her arms around his neck, causing an unfortunate stab of jealousy to shoot through me. Ugh. I need to get it together. I enjoyed dancing with Matt, so maybe I should just have fun hanging out with him. Caroline would be over the moon, and that’s why I’m here.
ChapterNine
When I return to our cabin, I find Rachel sitting out on the balcony drinking a glass of champagne. She has her feet up on the railing and appears completely peaceful and serene. I look back to where the Florida coast is beginning to fade into the distance. It’s nothing but open ocean in front of us, and that’s a fantastic feeling.
“Hi. Did you take a nap?” I ask, sitting down next to her.
